Landed at Bob Sikes (KCEW) last Thursday and saw a Commander with its engine out parked on the ramp. Looks to be in great shape, but the cover and a fuel truck hid the registration numbers as we taxied in.

Also, a bunch of Mil-17s are apparently being refurbed there. Great FBO if you get down around there and a restaurant on the field.

That would be more of a sighting - the term AOG is used when people are in a bind - on a trip (or needing to depart on one) and their plane is broken - they really need help.

I can go with that, use of terms evolve over time and in different aviation cultures. When I was flying professionally, we used the term for any aircraft that was non flyable due to a mtce issue that had not been corrected. If it was waiting for parts, it was AOG. This Commander is missing it’s engine and prop.

My vote goes for Joel on that one. Installing a new engine is maintenance or such. AOG has a sense of urgency.
 
Yes, when I see posts with AOG in them I try to respond as quickly as possible because I assume that somebody's in trouble. Been there done that.:(
