Today I had the chance to fly my 114 to the Portland Rose Festival Airshow as a static display aircraft. (Best benefit was getting in early, parking on the flight line with the military stuff, and free admission and a 12 minute flight home versus the 1:45 minute drive in traffic). I was parked next to a Bell V-22 Osprey and a variety of very nice GA aircraft (Fairly new Bonanza, Aerospatiele (?) Trinidad, brand new TBM 850, Partenavia 66, beautifully restored Piper Cherokee, etc) and guess which airplane kept getting the pictures and oohs and ahhs? Even people on their way to the V-22 stopped and asked questions and took pictures.

Still love this airplane......

Re: And the ramp appeal continues....

One of the early articles (maybe was AOPA Pilot or Flying ended with "The Commander Sits Tall like a COMMANDER should" or something like that.

Now that our 25 yr + manufactured Commanders are 'Historic', appropriate to be recognized as The most creative beautiful SE designed heritage aircraft.

Tim,

Very nice! Sounds like a great time and what a great picture.

When I was plane shopping I was lucky enough to stop by Petaluma, CA airport and met TJ Neff - he had all three planes I was considering on his airport - a Bellanca Super-Viking, a Socata TB20 and a Commander 114. It was a great experience to physically compare the 3 side by side by side.

I agree with Sherman and you - they are beautiful

Mine was called a 'Hot Rod' yesterday...
(She was at 1/2 tanks and rear seat removed - sort of jumped off the ground as I climbed to pat alt at Vx)

John,

NICE - up here at my density altitude - we don't jump off the ground LOL - we taxi at high speed down the active until we slide up into the air and it's a good day when we get 1,000 fpm climb!
