This September 3rd, I will celebrate my 4th anniversary as a Commander 114 owner and Sept. 28 I will celebrate my 4th anniversary as a PP. I actually learned to fly in my Commander. People ask me why I chose a high performance, complex aircraft to learn to fly. My standard answer is, because I didn’t know any better. I have not regretted one moment. I purchased my aircraft through Judi Anderson (suncoastaviation.com) through the recommendation of Glenn Mores. Judi is a wealth of knowledge as others have attested. Also among those that I absolutely rely on for advice, problem solving and parts is the incomparable Jim Richards of the Aerodyme Corporation (Everything Commander). So all of this to say that I started as a rookie pilot in a Commander and my advice to you is, do your research and then JUST DO IT! I do not have an IFR rating and my insurance is and has been extremely reasonable from the first day. I cannot imagine ever flying without my Commander.
