48 States in 48 Hours

I think something happened. I watched them take off from MAI, circle the airport 3 times and came back down.

Something definitely went wrong. Looks like they had to stay the night in Florida ending their chance.

They were forced to abort due to problems with the prop governor. Made it about 1/4 of the way when this happened.

Just saw this, planned to check on the progress. It was a grand plan anyway.

Wow ... 48 states in 48 hours ... I would like to see the flight planning. Must be a lot of fuel stops and wondering how they were going to handle the lack of sleep.

I wonder what was considered a ‘stop’? Would a ‘roll & go’ be enough? Seems like quite the plane for a flying club? Must be a special club.

Don’t most good sized flying clubs have one or more complex airplanes, whether it’s an Arrow or a Cessna 172RG or 182RG.?

They did not make it, but I have considered doing similar, but not in 48 hours, to raise money for Wings of Mercy. I know that plane. When they purchased it a few years back, Their chief instructor contacted me and wanted to fly with me a couple of hours and get my input on preferred speeds &settings, landing methodology especially in big Xwind, etc. I definitely fixed some misconceptions they had and helped them establish better numbers for their flight club.

The flight plan can be seen here: https://eximiousflying.club/en/48-x-48/

There were two pilots and they were going to trade off flying duties. Each stop they had to be on the ground long enough to get a local airport authority to sign something in order to validate the record.
