2023 Annual Fly-in (KMGY)

Those attendees planning to arrive early,… unlike Saturday and Sunday mornings when breakfast will be served outside our meeting room, those arriving before Friday will be receiving coupons for breakfast in the hotel for all days before Saturday morning. All rooms booked through the COG code come with breakfast each day.

The BBQ establishment (a few blocks south of the airport) is looking for a ballpark head count for Saturday lunch. If you are interested, please post with your expected attendance count. This BBQ lunch is not part of your registration and will be just a group activity with individual checks. There will be time after lunch (and before the banquet) to visit the USAF Museum if desired.

Hello fellow COG members,

Karen and I are wheels up at 0800 hrs tomorrow morning out of the Charleston, SC area.
We’ll be seeing you sometime late morning, early afternoon around the hotel property.
Fly safe,
Frank A Alvarez

Hi Everyone.... so because my plane will not be delivered to me until late tomorrow after a major engine overhaul, and because by car the drive is 7 hours, I will not be able to attend this weekend. I was very much looking forward to it, but for sure, I will be there next year. I hope it's an awesome event.

Commanders on the move ..

Well, unless something unexpected happens, I won't be able to make it to the fly in. I am on a job at work that should have been over several days ago and I already don't have enough men to cover what we are doing - unbelievable.

Plane is ready but I am stuck on an oil and gas location out in the middle of nowhere. .....

Safe travels home tomorrow, particularly for those of you heading east/northeast into this weather system.

I had such good time yesterday and today. Was weird not at commander fly in without 59W but was glad to be there in the eclipse. Safe travels to everyone tomorrow.

Awesome pics Lonnie.... sad I could not make it.

I made it home in 3:21, great flight. Great meeting and thanks to all the folks that work so hard to make it work. I did learn a few things on the way home but we will discuss that later.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Ken

Hello everyone,
Karen an I touched down at Summerville, SC (KDYB) @ 13:10.
We wanted to circle back to all that welcomed us into the Frey! This is the second COG event attended, and like the first, we enjoyed it greatly.
Sincere gratitude to those that stepped forward with the knowledge on how to operate our fleet better, and on how to keep our fleet properly maintained.
Flight home was as expected with the tail-winds; 2.7 hrs at 15,000. N6095X safely in the hangar for now.
Already looking forward to our next gathering.
Take care all….
Frank & Karen

I hooked south to Atlanta (2.5 hrs) to avoid the weather in the north-east.
Plan on flying up to NY area mid-week from here.

Rolf & I made it home, WI & MN. I think he had some weather to deal with once almost there. We flew loose formation, took a few pictures. A dedicated photographer would be best for pictures.

Great seeing everyone at the fly-in; next year I promise to fly my 114 to wherever it is and then be prepared to take the abuse for my 2-blade prop!..

It was a pleasure to meet so many new members this year and to once again see long time members.
I haven’t been able to attend for several years due to weather issues, maintenance issues and other scheduling conflicts.
Thanks to all who complemented my 112, especially the judges. I am honored to be recognized by my peers!
The awards help ease the pain of spending lots of AMU’s on all the new parts last year!
Joe and I bugged out just before sunrise Sunday and enjoyed a smooth flight past the Chicago skyline.

Good morning all!
Thank you to everyone for welcoming Sandi and I so warmly, and making our first fly-in such a wonderful experience - It was really great to put some faces to the posts. There's clearly a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in this group, as pilots and commander owners, and I am truly grateful to those involved in organizing the event, the presenters, and everyone's willingness to share.

Thanks to Ken for the "intro to squat switch" when we landed (that's getting taken care of as I type this), Bill for the parts, Mike, Elliott and Moazzam for their input from the judging. Special thank you to Keith and Robert for taking the time from their Sunday morning, to go over 15W with a fine-toothed comb (constructing the list for my A/P), and to Darrell for the effort on my prop (I got the additional 5 kts ;)). Above and beyond, everyone...and greatly appreciated!

Sandi and I are looking forward to seeing everyone at next year's event - the middle 2 weeks of Sept '24 are already set aside on the calendar.

Sorry I had to miss my first as a Commander Owner. Looks like y'all had a good turnout!
