Ready to receive registrations. They are already rolling in! (Small bug in confirmations… still indicating confirmation for Ft Collins. Fear not. Will be remedied in the morning.)

Awesome Bill. Glad it wasn't just me who ended up getting a confirmation for the Ft. Collins event.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE!!

Our hotel room block expires on 9/1/23. This doesn’t mean that rooms will necessarily be unavailable after this date; however, room reservation availability will not be assured. Recommend you get your reservation in place as soon as possible so you won’t be scrambling to locate accommodations for this year’s fly-in.

I’ll fill it out soon, nice & close.

I just registered for last year’s fly-in, Woohoo!
That must mean that I paid for it last year too!
I just love freebies!

We look forward to seeing everything there.
Frank and Karen

I have booked the room, I doubt is will be as good as last years hotel. It included breakfast and the managers happy hour.

I know it's getting close to when the room block expires, but is anyone going to fix the web page? After coming back from PayPal, it displays a page that shows the Loveland, CO hotel, not the Dayton, OH hotel.

Radu was working on the webpage issues. The software was giving him some guff. I’ll inquire.

Is there an actual agenda posted for the meeting?

I just got registered. The hotel only has a handful of rooms left for us, so anyone thinking about it should call them. The link to Hilton will not show any availability - you would need to call that local number for the hotel to get a room.

Couple of issues... the problem with the confirmations for the Hilton Garden Inn in Austin Landing emailing as confirmations for Ft. Collins/Loveland, CO is a bit of a sticky wicket. The website host made some significant upgrades to their cyber security protocols and those have made making corrections to the website driven confirmations problematic without making substantial modifications to our own software. Rest assured that when you register for this year's Fly-in being held in Dayton, OH, that is where you are registered regardless of what your email confirmation says. Same is true for the hotel reservation for the Hilton Garden Inn at Austin Landing (Dayton).

Remember, room block and special pricing ends on 9/1. After that date, it becomes FCFS.

Is there an actual agenda posted for the meeting?

The agenda remains in flux. At last check, Garmin, Carl Lee, Phil Camarda were making presentations and answering questions. I anticipate that we will have (as usual) a Stump the Chumps session with unstructured Q&A exchanges with group emeritus wizards. With the USAF Museum tours being on the docket, we are trying to not crowd the Saturday agenda. I recently heard that Phil Camarda may be having some issues in getting free that weekend. More news as it happens. Reception at hotel on Friday evening. Meetings on Saturday daytime. Aircraft judging Saturday morning hosted by Mike Carpenter and his highly skilled judging staff. Dinner Award Banquet and Award Ceremony Saturday evening. All activities are casual attire.

Bill, great job, it's going to be fun.

Yankee Swap planned again for this fly-in.

Please bring one or more worthwhile items to include in this year’s swap. Mr. Bill Hopkins will be our honorable emcee. Slapping the emcee is prohibited!

updated agenda,…

Saturday morning speakers are currently slated to be Bill Hopkins - Maintenance insights; Phil Camarda - Proactive Maintenance Options for Orphan Aircraft; Joe Megna (Garmin) - Commander related offerings. All sessions will have Q&A. If sufficient interest exists, we may put together a session of Stump the Chumps with selected emeritus Commander Wizards.

We are currently allowing time for USAF Museum visits on both Friday and Saturday afternoons. Aircraft judging will take place Saturday morning. If you would like your aircraft to be included in the judging activity, you must leave it unlocked.

More info will be in your arrival packet. Please be certain you have completed your registration for the fly-in. A hotel reservation does not mean you have registered for the fly-in.

Seems like every year I somehow end up scheduling my bahamas trip the same week as the fly-in …. and this time it’s only 45 minutes from my house (by commander).

Oh well … my commander and I are heading to the bahamas the 21rst, so I will try again next year!!!!

One of these years I’ll make it work!

Hope you guys have a blast!!!

If you are looking for something fun to do on a Saturday Night. Go over to Fox Hills Rodeo. It’s just around the corner and it’s very fast/no-downtime and it’s a blast. We fly over to it all the time.

Phil

HEADS UP ALL ATTENDEES!

Regardless of the confirmation you received during your registration, the 2023 Fly-in is being held at Wright Brothers Airport (KMGY - Dayton, OH) and the hotel is the Hilton Garden Inn Austin Landing Miamisburg, OH. it is not in Ft Collins, CO. The confirmation issue is a web board hosting software OS issue (The hosting software is blocking our efforts to change the confirmation text to the Dayton information) This was explained previously; but apparently there are a few registrants still calling Judi about the "incorrect confirmation information". It is a text issue only and, as long as you entered your data and paid this year during registration, you are confirmed for the Dayton event. If your name appears on Judi's posted posted roster, you are good to go. If your name does not appear on the roster, then your information/payment has not been received.

Attendees

Few items of note…

1. Your registration packets will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn.

2. Aircraft parking will be some on ramp and some in the grass. (Airport is having grass mowed just before we arrive). It has been (and is currently forecast to be ) quite dry in this area. Ground is in good shape. We used the grass during previous flyin and had no issues. Recommend you bring your own tie-down materials. There are rings in both pavement and grass. Ropes may or may not be present. Encourage you to be prepared.

3. for those interested in a Saturday BBQ, we are planning a visit to Dickey’s BBQ Pit just a few blocks from the airport. We will have a room reserved for COG troops.

4. Aircraft judging Saturday morning. If you want your aircraft included in the festivities, please leave it unlocked and any cover removed. Interior sunscreens should pose no problems. Judging team will not be performing valet duties.

5. Please bring items for a Yankee Swap on Saturday evening. Always a fun and entertaining event.

6. We are working on a possible fuel discount. More news as it becomes available.

Those of you planning to rent cars,…. Advice from the FBO (First Flight) is that you will likely have best luck getting car delivered to FBO If you use Enterprise just up the street from the airport. Hertz may deliver if you are Gold member.
