Change of plans

John and Jacquie Ferguson and Patricia and I will now arrive on Thursday just before noon. We have amended the hotel reservations. We initially were planning on arriving on Friday morning.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Just wanting to share plans.... we are booked at Jekyll on Wed night so won't be in Albany, that would have been a good plan though!

Planning to leave Austin around 9:30ish, fuel stop in Prentice to check Lonnie's digs, then into 09J from there. Should take me nearly over Albany, so listen for me on the radio!

Looking foward to seeing all,

David & MB

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

So then David you;ll be passing up the free wash & wax that Ken Andrew is offering for all who stop & fill up at ABY on Wednesday?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Re. St Augustine airport:

There is significant construction and runway resurfacing on the way. Runway 13/31 is shortened at the 31 end. Construction equipment is very close to the edges of the part that is open. Runway 06/24 is closed. Various aids/navaids are closed or downgraded such as Glidepath on 31,PAPI on 31 etc

I landed there a few days ago and the ground frequency was very busy with vehicle movements.

NOTAM read a must before going.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Photo of RWY 13 taken on short final Sept. 15. There are several older markings of displaced thresholds in black. The actual threshold is in white with the number 13 right behind the markings. Equipment can be seen on the south side of the runway.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Hi All
Haven't given up hope on making Jekyll Island
Looking to fly some where commercial then hope to catch ride on a Commander to Jekyll, then on Sunday catch a ride to CGI to pick up my airplane
Any thoughts?

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

I will alert Ian Cairns he's picking up Rob Rother in JAX arriving from Scotland at 6pman Thu

If you can arrive JAX or SAV Thu someone can get you. Judi Anderson is arriving SAV on Thu too so check with her and whoever get's her can get you and your wife. The return to CGI may present a different problem - we'll ask at teh BBQ if not take SW to STL and they have a shuttle to CGI

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

A welcome letter to all of us from 09J Richard is teh Delta pilot who runs the airport - hwe's arranged discount fuel for us at SSI hurrah p;lease read. Remember he'll rent us Red Bugs at a discount and rental cars too.

Dear Sid,

Thankyou so much for the invitation to join with your group this coming weekend. I am honored to
accept. I would love to say a few words about my experiences in General Aviation and would
especially like to talk about how the Jekyll Island airport was saved from the "wreaking ball"
thanks to AOPA and the local flying communty.
We are looking forward to the "Commander Groups" visit to Jekyll. If the turnout is as expected
your group will set a record for the MOST number of aircraft every to visit Jekyll Island. If
anyone in your group is still unsure about attending please mention this record setting fact to
them. Last minute arrangments are very acceptable as far as Jekyll accomadations go.
For the golfers in your group, I have been advised by our "Director of Golf" that fabulous golf
clubs with all the trimmings will be made available for those not wishing to bring their own
clubs.

I have spoken with the FBO at the Brunswick Golden Isles airport (BQK) 11 miles north of Jekyll.
They are a full service FBO with A&P/I on staff. They will discount the fuel for your group.

Sid my cell phone number is 912-223-9394 . What ever your needs are please call me and I will make
it happen.

We have ample room to park everyone but we are limited on tiedown ropes and anchors. Please ask
your pilots to please bring these items with them.

We so look forward to your visit.

Regards,

Rich Van Iderstyne

We'll be ahead of schedule if we are there by noon, we're going to pack a lunch but hope to see you there.

Are you offering the same wash and wax, free gas as Ken in Albany? Just sayin'...

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

there will be a credit card machine that will only charge you for the fuel u get. A water hose with water on demand just turn the damn nob to left for on and right to close when your done. as far as wax there is a man up road with bee hives his name is MR. Bee and you can call him for some bee wax but may take a while to get enough for the plane. So I would say its just like stopping at Ken's. LOL hope we see yall.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

My plane is currently parked at JAX.
I am flying commercial in there on Thu pm (late) and taking it to the fly-in on Friday am. There's one option.

Additionally toying with flying to KCGI on Sunday to drop the plane off for the annual in October.

Re: Sat. awards dinner

Re: Sat. awards dinner

there is parking @ the beach pavillion, so people can drive their owns cars if they wish. or, as Sid mentioned, hotel 'can' set-up shuttle service back and forth. it's approx 3/4 mi. fm hotel to the Pavillion other side of the island.

as for ladies inquiring about attire: very casual location on the beach, no need for string bikinis or cocktail dresses, but maybe platform sandals over hi heels. :D

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

Anybody needing a ride to/from commercial airports, if they would post arrival times and flight number here we will set up a pick 'em up service.

Or send me a PM with contact number and I will call you.

Re: 2010 cog fly-in location

In case we get weathered out and either don't arrive or perhaps arrive a day late, what is the policy COG arranged (if any)at the hotel for cancellation?
