There is a long thread on the AOPA forum about 100LL contamination. With all the travel and location of COG members, has anyone heard of this or been to airports out of fuel.
Some on AOPA say it is speculation and other have said the airports out of fuel know about it but they are not talking.
If you know of any FACTS, please post it.

Re: 100LL Contamination

Recent?

There was a problem in the 1994 time frame, where Texaco -- I think it was them -- had a fuel contamination problem. They ended up paying for overhauls on a bunch of engines (including the one in 7XY).

Re: 100LL Contamination

My samples have been right on as of late. Really expected to pickup a bit of moisture at Ft. Collins with the change in temp and drizzle on Sat, but none found.

Scary thoughts . . .

On maneuvers in Germany years ago we received a blanket 'land ASAP' call. One of our field site refueling points was dispensing bad J8. Found about a gal of nasty mucus looking stuff in our tanks. that will get your attention.
