    Much needed air therapy

Tony, I’m retired and sometimes it’s a hassle to get in the air. I hope the wet and windy gives us a break so I can get some additional air time before June annual.

Thanks!! We are headed to Savannah on Monday, hope to have some good video to post when we get home. I hope I can get some good B roll as my bride walks my legs off exploring the historic district. At least she agreed to check out the 8th Air Force Museum with me.

Bless me father for I have sinned, it's been 33 days since my last flight. Seriously needed some air therapy so I made the short hop to meet a friend and fellow pilot for lunch just 43 miles away at KWWD, Cape May NJ. BLOG and VIDEO

    The Eclipse!!

Sounds like a fun experience. At the very least it was good to get gas at such a good price.

    Vacation and gear issues

I think my fluid level was so low that the pump kept running trying to move the gear until I pulled the breaker and performed an E dump. Once home from vacation (driving) I did add eight to ten oz of 5606 to just shy of the threads on the fill. After going over everything today the gear swing...

    Vacation and gear issues

I just returned from the shop and I have to say this one is a real head scratcher. First, a fluid level check on the pump, it was good. Next with the use of an extended mirror we found no leaks, however the one AN connection needed about a quarter turn. We did find some residue but it was...

    Vacation and gear issues

Bill, as always great info, thank you. I went back over this morning to give everything another look and found no trace of hydraulic fluid. I’ll pull the back floor Thursday. Not even anything on the belly or any of the drain holes. The pump and surrounding area is spotless too. The E...

    Vacation and gear issues

I went over to the hangar and did some quick checks. First I checked for leaks, found no hydraulic anywhere. I did not take the rear floor pan off, I’ll do that Thursday at the shop. Next I checked the fluid level in the pump, I had to add eight to ten oz. Hmm, where did that go? Next I climbed...

    Vacation and gear issues

David, That's the plan. check the E dump to make sure it is up, then cycle the breaker to see if the pump runs continuous, if not, I'll leave it in. I do not have a gear motor light but it will be on my annual list "to do" for June. I'll update the thread with the findings upon return from the...

    Vacation and gear issues

Tony, good info! I’m reading through the troubleshoot guide and will have a copy with me. I really think the gusts caught the left main gear door and forced it open, but what do I know. I’ll know more once in the shop.

    Vacation and gear issues

the plan is to not touch the gear selection and leave the breaker pulled until I get in the shop. should I reset the breaker and let it build the pressure as you mentioned then pull if the pump continues to run? on occasion when I power up I’ll hear that quick “zip” but don’t remember always...

    Vacation and gear issues

I have a question. Is there a way to physically lock the gear to make the ten minute hop for service?

    Vacation and gear issues

I really think the very strong gust opened the gear door. What caused it to brain fart after that I’m not sure. I have scheduled shop time on the 21st so we’ll swing the gear a good many times and give the gear motor/pump attention too. I’ll report back on findings.

    Vacation and gear issues

We are headed back to Vero Beach. Vero has become or favorite go to place over the last few years. We have searched for a condo for two of those visits but with Ziva nobody would take a large dog. This year we renew the hunt but we are also considering apartments. Mary and I have worked all...
