New Member and New to Commander

Re: New Member and New to Commander 2500 feet is no problem, hot or cold, heavy or light. Have the annual done at the Factory or at Aerodyme. Both are very familiar and both will do a great job.

Re: Sun n Fun 2011 invitation Nuts, those aircams look like they'd be spectacular to fly low and slow over any interesting ground. Hope they had insurance.

Re: Bahama Laid Back Spots - Recommendation Great info, definitely on my to do list. Was wondering where do you get the pubs for a trip like this? How about the GPS. Will a North American database in my Garmin 430 and 495 know where the heck I'm trying to get to? Also, how's the phone service...

    Service Kits

Re: Service Kits Jim: Are any of these kits, or any other STC's or services you provide on your website? When I go to your website, I can only pull up the front page. There's nothing after that. If you haven't got your Website set up yet I'll print these attachments and keep them for future...

    Roush Wreck

Re: Roush Wreck Just prior to the ground impact I don't see much aileron deflection to straighten things out. In many accidents with this type of photo secquence you can plainly see the controls at their full deflection. I agree with the previous posts, ATC can get you into a lot of trouble...

    Engine STC's

Re: Engine STC's Wasn't that a Machen Conversion? There was one for sale 4 or 5 years ago, don't know much about it. I'd be interested in the IO-580 or a Turbo normalized IO-390 as a replacement for the TO-360. I like the option of flying in the low to mid teens in the Summer where the Air is...

    San Marcos TX FBO?

Re: San Marcos TX FBO? BTW, cant make it all the way to CPS from HYI, so I stop in F51 to gas, About an hour and 30 from HYI. Cheapest gas in Texas, and a great little unmaned stop with Self Service fuel. I've been able to make CGI from HYI nonstop before if the winds aren't against you too bad.

    San Marcos TX FBO?

Re: San Marcos TX FBO? Scott, HYI is a nice place, Self service fuel is right in front of the building with the Blue roof. Once you're gassed up there are tons of places to park closeby. To make it simple, bring a couple of ropes and park anywhere. The Blue building is staffed by Berry. I just...

    The conversation

Re: The conversation So I guess my question is , why didn't she clear you to land? What does the controller guidence over there say about giving clearance to land? What were her intentions, to let you get into the flare and then go around just prior to touchdown because she wasn't giving you...

    The conversation

Re: The conversation Acutally, I've only done this once, and I completely forgot I did it, but I remember it worked really well. At the first sign of a controller issue, I just keyed the mike, and nice and slowly said " Tower,(or who ever your talking to), the name and telephone number of your...
