    New member

Re: New member The 114TC is good for about 15-20 more @ 75% at the same altitude. 160 to 165 TAS at 11k or 12k in the cool months. Of course you gotta spend a bit more gas to get it ;).

    Grand Oaks hit my hurricane

Re: Grand Oaks hit my hurricane Glad you didn't lose many (any?) trees. I owned a historic home in Little Rock and had an original picture of the house from 1910 when the two oaks in the front of the house were planted. Losing one to a lightning strike 100 years later was like losing one of...

While you were all eating BBQ...

Re: While you were all eating BBQ... Yep, I understand. The way we see it, our biggest potential benefit to aviation in all of this is showing people who have never been to their municipal airport what general aviation is. Most of them have no idea. Not only are we feeding and clothing...

While you were all eating BBQ...

Re: While you were all eating BBQ... Guy, your name is familiar, I saw it on my list. Thanks for coming out. That's awesome, when you get the article share it to us on social media or send it to us at contact@operation-airdrop.com and we'll circulate it to our non-aviation audience. In...

While you were all eating BBQ...

Re: While you were all eating BBQ... Thanks, we try. Those guys you likely met at RDU are all aviation professionals, we just do this during hurricanes because it's what we know how to do. As it turns out, airplanes are pretty on the evening news and draw a crowd. All of those locals...

While you were all eating BBQ...

Moazzam and I were saving North Carolina. No, really! We had over 450 pilots sign up to fly for Operation Airdrop this time. The locals came out in force, too. Which is fitting, I suppose, considering the airplane was invented in North Carolina. At the end of one week: 519 flights...

    Unusual cross-shopping

Re: Unusual cross-shopping The Commander factory didn't put a whole lot of effort into modifying and obscuring part references. If it's off the shelf (and most wear items are), it likely has the original manufacturer's part number and you can find it without the extra layer of price markup.

    New Commander 114B Owner

Re: New Commander 114B Owner Mine never worked. On the Bs/TCs it runs from the STEC55 flight director (assuming you don't have a KFC200 or 225?) and mine had the wrong flight director installed when I got the airplane. Some are for Bendix, some are for Century HSIs, and some are for Collins...

    Unusual cross-shopping

Re: Unusual cross-shopping There are three choices for later model used airplanes with a lot of elbow room up front. The Cirrus, as you know. The Commander is another, and a Socata GT is the other option. The Cirrus gets a lot narrower in the back a lot sooner than the Commander does. The...

    New Commander 114B Owner

Re: New Commander 114B Owner Got all sorts of Commander people in and around North TX. If you need an avionics shop in Dallas let me know, I've spent money in most of them, I think :D.

    New Shimmy Dampners

Re: New Shimmy Dampners Yes. If you are blowing out shimmy dampeners there is a reason why, that isn't the fault of the shimmy dampener ;). If you fix all those other wear parts you'll find that shimmy dampeners last a long time.

    New Shimmy Dampners

Re: New Shimmy Dampners John, if you haven't put new bolts and bushings from Jim that's the permanent fix. I did mine a couple of years before selling the airplane and that made mine like-new. Shimmy dampeners are the last line of defense, after all.

McKinney, TX gets new FBO (KTKI)

Re: McKinney, TX gets new FBO (KTKI) McKinney is doing it right in terms of how to build an airport. KADS is full and has too many students. Dallas is in the process of putting a landing fee on Love to show general aviation the door. The obvious winner in this is KTKI.

KSNH Savannah TN to KSLE Salem OR

Re: KSNH Savannah TN to KSLE Salem OR. Re: KSNH Savannah TN to KSLE Salem OR. The only thing I would offer is that on those southern routes, you can go through a lot of those military areas on weekends when they're closed. So when flying VFR at lower altitudes, the airways aren't as...
