    The "8 Knot Mod"

Re: The "8 Knot Mod" Interesting that you say that about Mr. Strauss, as the CPAC info made it sound as though you were a key player, Jim. N115CE is for sale, as you know, but not going anywhere fast except when I am flying it ;-) I am still keeping my eyes on this 8 knot mod, should the...

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? Weather is still iffy. I have a bit of a cold so probably should cancel for this weekend. I still would like to do it some time within the next four weeks, before the weather heats up. Anyone have any date preference? I would like to propose Sunday March 8, and if the...

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? Yes, it is looking that way. Might not be raining there, but tough to get in or out. I think we should have a more accurate prediction by tomorrow and I would not plan to go if they are still predicting rain by Friday. Of course, if weather turns nice, we could take our...

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? I plan to go but have not yet made the reservations. Plane is still in the shop, with a bad fuel pressure probe and the autopilot computer out for repair. The first problem should be fixed Tuesday; I would fly without the autopilot if the weather is OK.

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? Fantastic. Joel, since you seem to know something about the place, do we need to make reservations for the Sunday brunch?

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? Looks to me like Sunday brunch at the Inn would be the thing to do. If all agree, we need to make reservations. Probably late morning.

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? I think that's up to the participants, but I would just be going for lunch. That is, if I am not in the shop again! Vince, the more the merrier.

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? So February 22 seems to work for me, Vince, and Neal. How about you, Mike? Anyone else?

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? Vince, I know Mike Passwater very well. He is a great guy. Always helpful. I use him for all kinds of routine stuff and he had done all my annuals 2001-2006. Honestly, what happened there is that when Jim Richards did the upgrade on my plane in 2006, he found all kinds...

    Furnace Creek?

Re: Furnace Creek? I am flexible on the date, if the following weekend would work better, or even the Saturday, but I think February is the time to do it. Incidentally, Vince, I just got my plane back from annual with Robin. Robin is a great guy for avionics, and I did the annual with him...

    Furnace Creek?

Anyone interested in a SoCal fly-in to L06 (Furnace Creek?) It is an interesting place to fly into, 210 feet below sea level, and there is a very nice resort that is walking distance from the airport. We would probably need to make reservations there though. I was thinking maybe Sunday Feb. 15...

    The "8 Knot Mod"

Re: The "8 Knot Mod" Jim, I will fly this weekend and send you the pics, though you probably remember 115CE pretty well. Mine looks identical to all those already posted. I talked about this with Vince Giampa when we went up to Paso Robles last weekend. He subscribes to the view that the...

    Seafaring Super Commander

Re: Seafaring Super Commander Thanks Jim. Brian Gallagher, the mechanic who solved my airconditioning issue, and who did my further cowl mods, might be a good resource for you when you get a fleet of Supers going on the West Coast. He'll be the guy I will go to for the stab kit when that...

    Seafaring Super Commander

Re: Seafaring Super Commander Jim, add me and N115CE to the stab list. Air conditioning issue is resolved, now need to work on speed. Will also be doing some panel upgrades in the next few weeks, hoping to go all electric, remove both vacuums and some antennae, and see if that helps my cruise...

    Second Super Commander flies downunder

Re: Second Super Commander flies downunder. Re: Second Super Commander flies downunder. Thanks for the info Jim. The "misalignment" is a pre-existing condition that should not affect the absolute gain. The climb performance and the maintenance of performance at much higher altitudes are the...
