Sorry for the late response, just got notified...a week later, that you sent it! Paint is just a bit faded, thats only reason for the low grade, no hangar rash. The nose art is the 1960s version of "SAC Time" taken and updated from the B-17G nose art for "Sack Time." I thought it was bad luck to...

    Explanation of the FAA's problems

"One of the larger benefits is that you retire and continue to receive 75% of your "high 3" years (averaged) -- adjusted for inflation -- for the rest of your life. And healthcare" Neal, thats the old civil service retirement (forget what its acronym was). The new one is called FERS...Federal...

    48 States in 48 Hours

I'm sure they crunched all the numbers but I'm surprised they can get this done in 48 hours.

Darwin must have had the week off ... you will not believe this one

"And the experience was so traumatic, he doesn't see himself piloting an airplane again." Thank Christ!!! Mike

    Saw A Drone Below Me

The only rules I'm aware of is a max altitude of 400' AGL and outside a certain distance from airports. I've never reported the ones I've seen exceeding 400' AGL because, like you, I'm not aware of how to do that...had I been talking to an ATC facility I would have informed them but I don't use...

    Saw A Drone Below Me

I've seen them almost co-altitude with me at 2000' in the Tampa area! Closest I've been to one was about 1/8th nm. Eventually one is going to hit something and cause serious damage/loss of life. Can't figure out why they aren't required to be geofenced to 400' AGL. Mike

Tragic, fatal, accident -- way too close to home

I came to a decision early in my "IFR life" that I would do a circling approach, in actual weather conditions, only at an alternate, running out of fuel, with no other options. I was required to do 6 a year for "beans" and every time I did one I thought to myself "why would I ever do this?" Just...

FAA captures something other than a bonanza!

Definitely looks like a.) Florida and b.) N50BG's paint job!! Doing well; how are you doing? You still working or did you get grounded by the Coronavirus?

    Sky Drive flying car

There are no "fender benders" between airborne vehicles. There are around 35,000 vehicle deaths in the US every year...put people airborne and I think you'll easily triple that!

    West Texas flying

LOVE that airplane and got an appreciation for how much the public likes seeing it when flying. I was going TDY from Minot, where I was stationed at the time, back to Barksdale. As I flew on United near Kansas City, the Captain came on and said "folks on the left side of the plane...if you look...

    West Texas flying

Flew B-52s out of Barksdale AFB from 95 - 03. Our "backyard" low level route was IR-178. It started just southeast of El Paso and ran along the Rio Grande into Big Bend Park then headed north, then back west around Ft. Stockton. It was miserable flying that route in the summer!! Bumpy and HOT...

    Fuel Prices

I go 16 gallons (about 30 mins each way) away from my airfield and their $5.85/gallon to get gas at Williston (X60) and their $3.85/gallon 100LL. I save around $20.

Safety - SOP - Maneuvering speeds

I definitely need the EA100 for my attitude tied King Autopilot. ACU currently lists for $2,480. Mike

Safety - SOP - Maneuvering speeds

Interesting...so, let me see if I understand all that's involved to tie this in to my King autopilot...$4,495 for the E5 + $3,075 for the EA100 + $2,480 for the ACU = $10,050 + install. Is that correct? Mike
