Don't marry your decision (flying decisions) - always keep an open mind

Kelly - what caused the gascolator to stay stuck open? What did you do for the repair?

Had that happen on a .8 hr flight. Kirksvill lineman told me on shutdown I had fuel running out behind the nosegear. I was short about 8 gall Not enough to get my attention on the factory gauges. Glad the exhaust didn't "spark". k

ok - time to install a remote extinguisher in the Engine bay !!

Or at least a set of fire detection strips / sensors. . . .

Man - if I know I have a fire - I want to be able to get it put out. So we need both of your ideas... detection and suppression.... however, I think the FAA might have a problem with that.

Most flight apps, tuned with ADS-B have access to current Notams & fuel prices while airborne. It’s a great tool to keep abreast of conditions, prices, etc.. It’s easier to check ahead if time if the pumps out or whatever.

The cable shut-off somehow had worked open. If you look down at how that setup connects to the gascolator, the clamp can bind against the bracket that mounts it to the firewall. I think that day it didn't shut properly. Somehow vibrated open in fight. I sure look at it closer now on pre-flight. k
