Adding to Mike’s comments, it’s real simple: our fbo manager has said that the price of fuel is what they paid for their last tank truck plus profit markup. So when he gets low and orders another 10,000 gallon tank truck load the price will be that delivery’s cost plus profit markup. The expectation is it will be lower of course.
If the fbo folks had some savvy they would discount this existing av gas to help it sell and make the loss up on the cheaper next tank load coming in like car gas stations do—effectively stealing market share from other fbo’s. You shouldn’t need a marketing MBA to understand this.
I am flying down to Houston tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing what it will cost to get me back home. Not expecting much of a decrease.
Stephen, any clue, as cities begin to go on lockdown, i.e. so far in Texas, DFW, Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Boerne, Fredericksburg, what does this do to us in our ability to fly? Will we be grounded, in Texas????
I don't know. I know that business wise I don't have a reason to fly - no one is conducting business. West Houston airport told me that it will still be legal to fly into their airport when Houston gets locked down tomorrow, but then again it may be perfectly legal to land, but will it be legal to leave the airport and get on the public streets?
The only reason I am flying down is to pick up my daughter. My business is conducting meetings by phone and web - no ability to have face to face meetings anymore. I am reduced to my new engine sitting in the hanger with nothing to do - other than this flight today to get a kid.
