Was looking to see if there was a plan or anyone working to do the COG fly-in for 202? If no one has done anything I am willing to put it together.

Announcement very soon Kevin

Hey I haven’t been able to get to one since I bought my commander and I have a lot of time right now on my hands to help. Won’t stay that way long.

A "LOT" of work goes into our Fly-In's and the coordinator's don't get near enough recognition . . . (In my humble opinion) Thanks folks!!

Get that man a doctor!

Truly ... any one who would volunteer needs to be thoroughly evaluated by a team of healthcare professionals. Qualifications include being delusional, willing to work long hours with no pay, accepting blame for things totally beyond your control (like weather), loving to have your interesting and creative ideas totally rebuked, and not caring one whit about personal recognition!

You mean the people responsible for the flyin are not responsible for the weather???

A weekend to work with anyway.

Yes, just confirmed - Sept. 17-20. We'll hold off on announcing the location until we get the registration page up (shortly), but it is a beautiful spot.

That eliminates Texas, anyway.

Hey Guys,

So, most everyone knows that the dates for this year’s COG Fly-In are September 17[SUP]th[/SUP] – 20[SUP]th[/SUP]. The location we’ve chosen is French Lick, Indiana. The airport is French Lick Municipal Airport, KFRH, and lodging is at the French Lick Springs Hotel.

In these very uncertain times, we are aware that we will probably need to make a go/no-go call for our gathering later in the summer. We may even have that call made for us.

However, as of now we are working to be in a position to have our gathering if conditions are favorable and the group is comfortable doing so.

...Bob J.

Bob, thank you for the update. I'm anxious to hear the "it's a go" later this summer. I just planned my flight there; 990 miles with one fuel stop about 1/2 way.

Ah that's a nice location for us to get to from Ontario !

Every year we do a poll about the desired dates, and that is a great thing to do. I am newer here, relatively speaking, so maybe I have missed it before, but is there ever a poll early in the year on the location? I am sure KFRH is superb, don't get me wrong, just asking out of curiosity.

Tyler - we alternate years to the western third of the U.S. and then the Eastern third. We're basically trying to give 2/3rd of the country a 1-day trip to the fly-in. So it can be a bit of a trek for those of us on the East or West coasts. But then it's more Commander time :)

And we don't usually do any sort of poll although suggestions are always welcome. Keep in mind that we need a GA friendly airport where we can walk the ramp with tie-downs for 50 Commanders, a nearby resort with catering, banquet, and breakout room facilities, rental car availability, etc. Get in touch with Bob James if you'd like to get more involved or would like more info.

Sounds wonderfull! I can't wait!

Connie and I stopped by there on our way back from Osh a few years ago. Nice easy to access GA airport w/adequate ramp but slightly remote if I recall from the neighboring community. Rental Car / ride sharing will be required. Believe COG sponsored a Fly in there in the past.
Look forward to it.
John

45 minute flight from my house

Look back in the cog gallery section John. Pics of the event from 2012. I think I saw you in the pics. Looks like they pick you up in a trolley wagon if nothing has changed. Won’t need a rental car or ride sharing. We shouldn’t jinx this September event by talking about it too much however. Virus molecules are listening, especially the airborne ones. ;)

Will we repeat the "Free New Front Fork" to the lucky winner contest again, as we did in 2012?
