Just joined the group and looking for tips on buying a 114 (1978). Found one in CA with left wing replacement in 2018. Aircraft number is N5879N. Would anyone out there know what might have happened with this aircraft. Appears to be a possible ground/non moving event.

Thank You Judi for sending the photos. Do you by chance have any information on N5859N. It is a 114 for sale in Illinois.
Hello all,
The reason I have joined the Commanders Owners Group is that I’m searching for a Commander 114 to purchase. I have owned many aircraft but never a Commander. I’m joining to educate myself about the breed. Should I find a machine that interests me I’d be looking for information about a pre buy inspection and folks with maintenance experience with Commanders. Should I ultimately purchase one I’d need a flight instructor experienced with the aircraft. Hoping to find much of that through this organization.
Thanks,
Dennis Christiano Sr

Welcome Den, Where are you going to be based?
Do you have the information for the support brackets 42263-1. need at least one. You can contact me here or call 239-293-7141
Hello Commander(s),
N4578W is on annual and the Maintenance called me today - it seems there is an issue with the Fuel Selector (no worry, no leak :-) - the poblem is that they can`t remove the selector, because the small grub screws can no longer be unscrewed and therefore the selector cannot be lifted off the axle. Does anyone still have a selector that no longer need or a tip where i can get a new one?
Southeast Commander Shops

Does anyone have good recommendations for shops in the SE that have a lot of Commander experience? Looking for some help on a few small issues. NC, SC, GA, or North FL. Thanks
Are you selling your Commander? I see that it is posted on Barnstormers. A gentleman by the name of Joel is brokering it? I have a student that is interested in the aircraft and was trying to get details regarding the aircraft. My name is Brian and my number is 704-363-2985

I understand Joel has discussed the airplane with you. Whatever questions you have, let us know.
G'day COG President,

I'm new to the Group, tried to join, filled out the name, email and and password entries but when I attempted payment, I received a message I don't understand. I appreciate some assistance and a call would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Frank,
My name is Ed Sinayi, I’m the owner of N515CA a 1976 114 SN 14059. I’d be interested in any spare parts you may have left over after the sale of your plane.

I will keep your information and see what I have left. It might be a few days before I can do that.
No information, yet. I will pester him tomorrow.

I'm not sanguine about the possibility. He sent me a picture and it had a rough, off-field landing.

I think it would be hard to break this particular part, there’s not much to it. Thanks for your help, please keep me informed as I'm looking at all options to get this bird flying again.
Helllo!
I just bought N49AB,112TC, sn 13066. My wife Betsy and I are very excited to have this opportunity. We own a 1947 Stinson 108 that we have greatly enjoyed but it’s time for better capabilities.

We are working with the previous owner’s mechanic to address a few issues that have been discovered. One of them is the gear bell being so weak it can not be heard inflight with headset and normal noise. I remember reading a thread about connecting another bell in series with the old bell to increase the volume.
Would you have a recommendation of how to accomplish that?

Also, thank you for the operating tips that you shared in a post in this forum. I developed a checklist that combines your advice with the POH guidances. This was invaluable while I learn to effectively fly the Commander!

Thanks again!

Terrific... thanks so much.... and I agree with you.
Carl... hope you are well. So how much are the fairings... and how difficult are they to install? I've often wondered that the litte CO detections I get in the cockpit when on the ground taxing around is because of the cheap rubber fairings that are on my plane now. Thanks so much!

Hi Kevin,
All good here, thanks! Hope all is well with you as well. The fairing kit is 900. All 4 wings + the bonus of new flap linkage covers. Now that I've reworked the horizontal stabilizer molds, installation is simple.
Not sure about co in the cabin, but you can hear the difference when you're flying. They make airflow over the wings quieter.
Hi Kev... hope all is well. So I'm having my GFC500 installed as we speak, and I want to install the Cygnet yokes now as well. But the problem right now: My Avionics guy is looking for the paperwork that authorizes him to install the new adapters so the yokes can be attached. I understand the Cygnet yokes may be PMA'd, but what about these adaptors? Are they also, or is a "Field Inspection" required?
I will talk with the owner I am sure he wants to sell it as a complete aircraft.
COG has a quiet program that may be able to pick up a number of these springs to hold as reserve "inventory". COG won't sell them directly as they must be considered "Owner Provided Parts". But COG can help with the acquisition expense to reach a cost effective min ordering quantity.

Oh? Excellent. I'll keep you posted as to how things progress. Right now the guy doing the spring manufacturing is out of town because he's getting married - the nerve, right? :) - and I won't have an update for another couple of weeks. I definitely think this kind of a program is a godsend. We here at the shop bend the rules sometimes with "owner provided parts." I'll let you know how many we need to order to get them into the $40ish range per.

Thanks,
-Kelsey

So I think I might need to take you up on the offer for assistance with acquisition expense. The cost didn't go down much at all in higher quantities. The owner of the company wasn't comfortable floating roughly $3000 to have the springs made for everyone on the forum. I get it - it was a bit disappointing but I'm hoping we can make this work.

I'm not looking to make any money on this deal. I'll just put the order in, get the parts, and get them sent out to folks who need them. I plan to provide them at cost plus whatever it is to ship it out.

What do we need to do to move forward?

thanks,
-Kelsey
