I have a new Personal Best after yesterday’s flights.
Ann and I spent a glorious week in Marco Island, Florida. The weather worked out for us on the way down and on the way back.
In my 1,000+ hours of flying I’ve never been able to travel more than 500 miles without encountering some adverse weather that slows or stops my progress across country. Until yesterday that is!
We departed Marco at 8:43 am and flew four different legs home to the Minneapolis/St Paul area totaling 1278 miles. VFR no less, no scud running, no questionable situations. Just good old cross country flying. We launched in 80 degree weather and landed to a chilly 27F!
Get out there and enjoy your Commanders!
What a comfortable cross country machine!
Now I wonder if Judy still has that Super Commander in her inventory…

Tracked some of your flights….a long day in the saddle for sure. Glad you and Ann enjoyed some Florida sunshine by way of our magic carpets. We have awesome travel machines!

That would be a haul in one day, likely some type of headwind mixed in.

Today I did the Chicago lakefront, great weather. The destination was Lansing, IL, meet a guy. They have a restaurant/ BBQ joint near the FBO, convenient.

On the way back one of the ‘stadium TFRs’ was showing red, active. The color red on Garmin Pilot may not be official as to if it’s active or not. They certainly don’t grouse about them as much as a presidential TFR. There was a plane just ahead of me that cut through a fair bit of the stadium TFR. I stayed over 1/2 mile from the edge, trying to avoid a nasty gram from the FAA.

Good practice avoiding the TFR’s. We flew down partway on Wednesday and avoided some MOA’s. Most of them are inactive on the weekends, which helped on the return trip.

11 hours in one day over 4 legs with 45 min refuel breaks? What do you do up there to pass the time?

Jay, I just relished the time up there. My airplane had been down for almost a year waiting for the engine overhaul…
I’ve had enough seat time for now!
