Re: Yellow Stone National Park

West Yellowstone and rent a car.

Also Cody, But never been there. East side of the park.

Cody in itself seems more interesting.

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Thanks for the visual.
Might have to try the West
as well as the East at Cody.
Maybe another place like Coloarado Springs.
More investigation.
Thanks.:)

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

My recommendation, fly into Jackson Hole, stay in the Grand Tetons, and make Yellowstone a day (or two) trip....

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Bob,

You should try Cody WY if you are in the area. I can't vouch for the airport, but the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody (sounds kinda like a carnival side show, but) is really a world class museum. It is actually 5 museums at one location, Buffalo Bill's life, Western Art, The Plains Indians, Natural History and a Firearms museum. Outstanding...

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

I am going to HiJack this post.

I do not know how to start a new post, I have tried and cant make it work. So Judy or Sven if you can make this into a new post that would be great.

HOW TO LOOSE WEIGHT IN A COMMANDER.

Ok, here we go.

I am working on the upcoming trip to Alaska in N377SB.

I do plan on re weighing the plane to make sure that the others that weighed it in the past were correct.

My Empty weigh is 2059.00lbs.

I need to lose 77lbs.

Empty weight 2059
fuel to tabs 288
Ken 180
Ben 165
Tom 145
clothes ken 10
Clothes Ben 10
Clothes Tom 10
Puter,charts,etc 10

This puts us 77 lbs over gross weight.

48 gals of fuel is only needed on the leg to Watson Lake. But we need it.

The Oxygen tanks will stay at home, All expired charts will be trashed. No ashtrays, fancy floor mats will stay home, only one flashlight, no barf bags, haircuts for all crew members.

I am considering removing the left rear seat cushions, dont know what it will save???

6.00 tires would only save me 4lbs. If I could find some worn out 6.00 this could help.

I am looking for ideas on how to save weight.

Looking for ideas if anyone can help.

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Take out all except for 1 com radio. Follow the leader.
Mico fish the flight manual.
Take the plastic off the interior, rid the carpeting.
Run 1 qt less oil.
Give ~100 Lbs to Lonnie.

There are Indian tribes with runway along the way to Watson Lake that have gas for sale. But you have to buy the whole drum, so I hear.

Here's one on the way.
N 57 16' 7.59"
W 125 27' 07.78"

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Paint's heavy. Strip it now, repaint when you get back.

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Schedule two trips. One this year. One next year.

or...

install an inflight refueling probe to counter balance your pitot tube and start sending Omaha steaks to a KC-135 driver.

Re: Yellow Stone National Park

Exlax or glycerin suppositories for all crew day before departure. :D
