Today was my lucky day! Alan Brentzel, Wingviewtint.com, was in Ocean City Maryland and I was able to have my windows tinted on 3 Tango Charlie. Alan did an excellent job! I love the new look, and what this product will do for the cabin temps. I did video the installation so I'll get that uploaded. See post 3 below.

Man I definitely need that. Looks great.

The Install Video

So did you have any discussion with him about what happens when the tint fails. Eventually they all do and I have a lot of experience with these on automobiles. When they fail and you try to remove them it's impossible to get them off without leaving some of the adhesive on the window. Not a problem with glass because you can use a razor blade to take it off but what I'm interested in is how he would deal with that on airplane plexiglass windows. It would seem to me that once the film fails you're only option will be to change the window.

Joel,

I did not have the 'removal' discussion. I think Alan addressed the car tint vs this product in the install video and their properties. I can ask what has been the longest life of installs for this product to date and the removal process, then post his response. I have a friend in Texas that has had the product on his 182 for three years and no problems.

Being in Arizona I've had tint on vehicles for the last 40 years. The typical life from what I've seen is 10 to 12 years. Might be longer for an airplane that's sitting in a hanger most of the time. I actually looked at his website and the guarantee is 5 years which would be before most products would fail.

I purchased a set of Just Plane Shades a few months back and they work pretty well. I also like that you can take them on and off very easily, they are relatively cheap, and you could easily take them out for night flights or if carrying passengers that want a clearer view.

A few things I've noticed: The dog is MUCH happier in the back, they work well. If you take a bit more time and use a felt edge squeegee to install them with some soap and water spray (takes about 5 minutes each shade) you can get most of the wrinkles out and they look pretty good. I used these

Also, I have found that I rarely use the front seat shades. I like having clear windows to look for traffic.

I created the template for these shades as well, I guess I am the first Commander customer. Don't yell at me if they aren't perfect! (I had to trim a bit in places).
