Commander Fly-In Kemble Saturday 20th April 2013

This is a repeat of last years very successful Commander Fly-In. It is an informal meeting of Commander Owners. The opportunity is to have lunch and spend a few hours discussing Commanders with other like-minded enthusiasts.

Kemble has spacious parking and a recently refurbished AV8 restaurant.

If you are able to come please email Mike Perry at Commander High Performance School Europe: flyabout.cwgsy@gmail.com

Mike will publish a list of attendees on the news section of his website so that you can keep track of any old friends: http://www.commanderflying.co.uk/

It is important that you register in advance for three excellent reasons: the first is that a reduced landing fee of £15.00 will apply (normally £17.50), secondly it will act as PPR and finally we can alert the caterers at AV8 to the likely numbers so that they can arrange staff to feed us!

In 2012 about 25 aircraft attended.

Kemble is a PPR airport 01285 771177 and the noise-sensitive areas and other details are on the website http://www.cotswoldairport.com/

Kemble EGBP can arrange Customs and Immigration for European Owners. For those from the Channel Isles the email address for Special Branch at Wiltshire Police is ports.office@wiltshire.pnn.police.uk

This is a different initiative, there appears to only be 4 of us for Troyes.

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Hi Steven and UK Fly-In Attendees,

As you suggested, I am posting here that a Commander speed clinic is being planned to happen at Guernsey during the week, and possibly two weeks, following the UK fly-in.

Clinic Agenda:

Aerodyme STC SuperStream including whole airplane Rig Check
Aerodyme PMA Elevator Inoculation
RCM STC Flap Gap Seals
FIV STC Gas Door Stays

Aerodyme will be sending over a team to accomplish these installations as time permits during the clinic, with facilities and supporting staff provided by Aircraft Servicing Guernsey. Based on training by Aerodyme, the ASG staff will complete any aircraft that cannot be completed during the time the Aerodyme team is present. The priority basis will be first signed-up, first-undertaken.

I will post a further communication but wanted to at least get the preliminary word out to you at this point.

Hi Jim
What's the state of EASA approvals???

Interested subject to!

Regards

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Hi David,

As soon as I have five deposits for EASA SuperStreams, I will apply to EASA, pay the ransom, and grind through their pleasant and professional process to get the approval. At this point, it seems we'll have those commitments soon.

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Any special instructions/callsigns this year?

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Lawrence

No special call signs. Kemble have a list of the registrations and this will take the place of PPR. Noise sensitive areas shown on the Kemble website http://www.cotswoldairport.com/noise-abatement.

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Hi Steve

I do not believe that N623TC will be coming. Unfortunately I leave that day for Seattle. Jim Richards will be taking her to Guernsey and originally was planning on flying her via Kemble but I believe he has hitched a ride out of Guernsey with another Commander and Mike Perry will take him back.

I hope you all have a super day. With Jim and Mike around the wealth of Commander information should be sufficient to keep you all busy for the next year!

One topic that is on my mind is a good jet A conversion. As SMA has a nice 230bhp engine now, we await for the 6 cylinder version. SMA has promissed interesting news at Aero Friedrichshafen. A 320+ bhp turbodiesel should make the Commander finally the 200kts + aircraft while burning 12gph jet A.

At 14,60usd per gallon versus 8 usd for Jet A, it seems to make sense. Especially if you run at 17gph (rop) like on a tc .. savings are almost 150usd per hour.

ps It would also make Lonnie look like an old man :-)

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

No set time it is just an informal get together. Most intend to arrive mid morning.

Joining us will be Mike Endean of Nicholson McLaren Engines.

Steven

Re: UK Commander Get Together 2013

Cool!

Nicolson is one of the better engineshops
