Hopefully it worked(or is working) out. I don’t know what direction you are but I see mostly VFR conditions covering AZ & beyond. I also see widely scattered rain & some stronger storms. The surface winds aren’t bad, not really vouching for turbulence.

I’d tackle it in stages, or reasonable leg lengths. Onboard weather is always helpful, keep a suitable airport in the back pocket at all times. If surface winds get strong, go somewhere else or find a runway somewhat lined with the wind. Everything is easier during daylight.

Thanks for the insight. I’m still at the airport (KSEE). Mountains surround San Diego and that’s what I’m trying to figure out. If I get past those, I can probably make it okay. The path is obstructed with restricted area, so there are 2 routes. Through Yuma, or the northern route which goes by Palm Springs. This is why I need my instrument. Just sitting next to the plane seeing if it opens. Otherwise it’ll be night 2 in Santee, CA. :(

Fine by El Centro, just need a pass(I-10?) to get through. I don’t know the specifics out there. Did you check to make sure the R areas are hot? Anyway, good luck, fly safe.

A little late for me to respond since I'm on the East Coast and have been on the road all day today. If I had responded I would suggest low over interstate 8 through the mountains. As the best way to get out of San Diego with Low ceilings.

Following the highway out is a great idea. Kept checking the cloud base and I probably could have gone out yesterday afternoon. If I could have filed an IFR flight plan I would have been home Friday. Well, its clear this morning. Thanks for the response.
