The son has a small graduation at the Coast Guard training center, Yorktown, VA. Since he invited me, I’m going, the event is Friday Morning. The best place nearby seems to be Williamsburg, VA. The weather looks good tomorrow, all set to go one day early. I don’t have to hurry back, but plan to start Friday at noon.

I debated other ways to get there, expected weather issues this time of year, the forecast is good now. I may stop at CYO, the fuel price seems pretty good.

I checked a few things today, including tire psi, engine heater plugged in. This picture is a rough outline, I may adjust a few things, should have a tailwind.

KPHF - Newport News / Williamsburg is a nice airport with a very friendly GA FBO, Rick Aviation. There are also rental cars available at PHF and I'm not sure JGG has rentals available. Give them a call to confirm. I will say the little restaurant inside JGG terminal was very good and they make fresh bread too. Have a fun trip!

Safe travels Joe!

I looked at PHF, which was a little closer. I will admit some of the reviews gave me pause. I parked at JGG, all was good. I don’t need a vehicle, son drove me to the hotel.

The flight down was great, a fair tailwind. The fuel stop was $5:20 a gal, not bad. I was solo, I cut over a little more water than usual.

A little past mid flight there were some higher buildups I was flying over or around, more erratic profile. I’m kinda thinking the weather won’t be as favorable going home Friday. If unworkable, the Saturday option is fine. I’d like to head somewhat West as able for at least part of the return leg.

Made it back today, spent last night in Ohio. Flying back was a headwind everywhere, then snow so I spent the night 1/2 way. The people were great at 3G4, Ashland, OH. I got a heated hangar for the night, helpful with rides to & from the hotel.

It’s all about the adventure!

I looked at forecasts yesterday and there was widespread freezing levels and I did see that snow moving east. Glad you made the stop and completed your flight home today.

These radar pictures are not accurate to the timeline of the flight. It wasn’t as bad as this looks, but no reasonable way through or around.
