So every year the wife and I take 75J for a long flight on a vacation destination.
Did the Bahamas 3 times and could use a rest from it.

So we are going to throw it out there and see what makes the best (2 day stop) on a (sort of) US round trip.

Starting at N40 and heading S/W to Louisiana or Tennessee or... Then west (east of Rockies) and North to Nebraska and final East.

Airports with rental cars are a must.
We have 2 weeks around July 4th and I know weather is an issue.

Its a NO TIME schedule, got to get NOWHERE type of vacation.

No pressure to get anywhere.

Cheers

Re: Suggested stops

Sounds like fun. In Tennessee you have a few places. Sevierville, Chattanooga, Sweetwater, and Tullahoma.

Sevierville; the museum, ride to the heart of the Blue Ridge Mts, DollyWood, live entertainment.

Chattanooga; downtown river lunches/ dinners, aquarium, Ruby Falls, Rock City.

Sweetwater; 2nd largest underwater lake in the world tour, cheese factory.

Tullahoma; Beachcraft museum, you park your plane at the front door at the end of runway. Short drive to Lynchburg to the Jack Daniels Distillery and tour the city center shops.

If you haven’t been to this site for places to go, take a look. https://funplacestofly.com

Re: Suggested stops

Marcelo,

If you get up my direction (Denver - ish) - look at heading a few hours farther north and west - to West Yellowstone Airport. It's an easy flight - terrain is not an issue - They have a great ramp at the airport (and rental cars) - there is a Smoke Jumping base on the airport you can tour, plus of course, you can drive/hike through Yellowstone.

Also, there's plenty of small hops across OK (Norman Commander new HQ, OKC museums easy drives), KS (Wichita aviation factories, Liberal air museum), and NE (Sidney - home of Cabella's, Grand Island - the 3rd largest city - when they have a game).

Plenty of choices - should be fun!

Dean, you have given me a "must take" flight! Yellowstone is one of our favorite places; having camped there several times. A quick check shows KWYS to be 606 miles from home base - that's straight line with a 13,750 peak just south of Teluride in the way; it will be a superb one-day flight. Having had a very cold trip to Illinois over Christmas, my wife now refuses to go north during winter, tho! (-5 degrees is plenty cold for us!)

Marcelo, if you've never been there, I suggest you ensure to make a visit to Yellowstone. If you end up in the vicinity & have never been to the Utah National Parks (Zion, Bryce, Arches, etc.) you might also want to consider making those part of a trip.

Charlie - glad to help out! I need to get down your direction some day too!

If anyone flies into Yellowstone - make sure - I mean for real - make sure you overfly the Great Prismatic Spring, then drive in and see it - it is truly amazing.

Its amazing what nature can do!
