Re: Relocating

Also Scott, your impression from the "super rich" here is probably not that different from the "super rich" anywhere. I have found that most in that category tend to have a privileged outlook on life, and I work with them from many states around the country.

I'm just jealous I'm not one of them!!!!

Re: Relocating

An old man was sitting on the gas station porch, just outside of town. A young man pumping gas asked him "What kind of people live in this town?"
"What kind of people live in the town you come from?" the old man asked.
"Ah, they're a bunch of scoundrels, chiselers, and thieves!" said the young man.
"Well, I'm sorry to say that you'll find the same kind of folks here in this town," the old man responded.

A little while later, another stranger was pumping gas asked the old man "What kind of people live in this town?"
"What kind of people live in the town you come from?" the old man asked.
"The salt of the earth!" said the stranger. "You couldn't ask for nicer folks. Why, they'd give you the shirt off their backs if you asked for it!"
"Well, I'm happy to say that you'll find the same kind of folks here in this town," the old man responded.

I suspect Carl will find the second kind of folks in Tyler... :-)

Re: Relocating

The good news Carl is your moving closer to the best food in the world, Southeast Louisiana. You can be at my house in little over an hour . I'll teach you how to eat crawfish and fly warbirds....

Re: Relocating

Why, since 2009? or was it 2011 (When I me up with Joel in AZ, I prefer not to fly commercial anymore. Rather Drive if can't go by N112HT. My security features are self comprehensive and include locking the upper R Door Cam for Honored passengers/co-pilot.

If the price of learning to fly warbirds is eating crawfish, I'm IN! LOL

Re: Relocating

How is the move going?
I see Texas is rated the #1 state for business again. We all know where California is rated. Michigan did show am improvement to 36th, positive but a long way to go.
Looks like you are making a very good move.

Re: Relocating

Pat, which listing was that? I always look those over being a bit of a statics freak. They are generally consistent but as in all such rankings, its all about the criteria and the weighting. The CFO Global Council has Texas #4, Michigan #7. The annual Forbes rankings has Texas #5, Michigan #38. I've always thought the best place to be would be 10-15. You won't lose business to other states at that rank, but your state is also less likely to be giving away huge freebies to attract business that may not pay off. Interesting stuff.

Re: Relocating

FWIW I was a card caring Texan living in Dallas for 3 years back in the eighties, primarily working in the Oil & Gas industry. Looking back what stuck in my mind (at least in the Oil & Gas World) was there seemed to be two types of Texans. East Texans who seemed to be bottom line, schedule driven screamers and West Texans who were far more laid back and old school, like "a man's word was his bond" and seemed like they were right out of central casting in Hollywood

Another thing that I wondered about was how a state like Texas could have some of the screwiest drinking laws I ever encountered, when it seemed that every Texan I met drank like a fish...

I'm sure it must be different now.

Regards - Clark

Busier than a one armed paper hanger in a wind storm!
Business is really good for us right now in California, but it's a lot of work to satisfy all of the regulations. I'm looking forward to not having to work so hard.

Carl is gonna be living on the border, so to speak. Most of East Texas we could just as well give to North Louisiana or Arkansas and not miss them, but for the fact that they would do us a favor and take Louie Gohmert with them.

Tyler is relatively civilized compared to most places out there, being a university town.

Carl, I have the original MT prop that was available with the first turbo normalizer. I've been told better performance can be had from the newest design. Is that true? If so, to what degree?

Thanks,

Bert

Just a much better blade design, quieter, smoother. I'd have to check with MT's test data to get you exact performance figures, but I've heard many complaints about the performance of your propeller, and many praises about the Scimitar bladed prop.

I know of one like yours that was destroyed by a prop strike and replaced with a Hartzell (this was before the Scimitar MT was approved), and another that was destroyed, and replaced - the airplane was sold shortly after.
