North East Wisconsin NEW-bie

Re: North East Wisconsin NEW-bie

Wait a minute ... isn't complex time with an instructor going to cost you at least $150 and hour? Just 10 hours costs you $1500. $3300 - 1500 = $1800. So you are way ahead of the game getting the bird, paying the higher insurance, and taking your time in the commander, when your complex time can also be IFR training time.

I'd agree with Scott on this (but don't let that get around!). You build time in type as well by flying the Commander. If you are set on buying an AC11, I'd go do it now. Prices are good.

Best of luck.

OK - I agree also (in retrospect)

I retract my original statement :D

FYI....
My quote was $3600 through Mike (Judy's guy) and that was still with a student license...Hull value was probably lower though....(80K)

Re: North East Wisconsin NEW-bie

I've been working in the area of Lake Champlain this week. My commercial flight home got cancelled earlier tonight. But of all the places I could be "stuck", I'm at BTV.

Now it's dawned on me that I'm at the home base of Aerodyme. So Jim... if you see this post, I wonder if short notice is notice enough to see a Commander in the morning. My flight departs 11:13am. Anytime before that would be a dream opportunity for me.

I'll also look up your web page and leave a phone message.
Hopefully,
Jerry

Jerry! Call Jim on (802) 734-9030. I am certain he would not mind.

Re: North East Wisconsin NEW-bie

Thanks for the number Scott; and many thanks to Martine and Jim Richards for taking me into their hectic morning on a chilly, windy and beautifully clear day at the Aerodyme shop in Burlington.

Not only did I enjoy meeting the Richards' -- I also got to crawl under, around, over and through several Commander aircraft that were in the shop with tails taken apart for either the SuperStream or the AD, or both.

If a picture's worth a thousand words, then seeing cracked spars removed from tail sections is... priceless. Very interesting. Very informative.

Too bad the Commanders were all taken apart, or down for the AD. I'm always the looker and never the rider; but I'll keep my eyes open for every opportunity until a ride can be arranged.

Thanks again Jim. What a fantastic morning in Commander-land !!

Re: North East Wisconsin NEW-bie

Jerry, glad that worked out. You are probably looking for a ride before this, but I have to be in Milwaukee Monday evening, June 13, and was thinking of visiting my cousing the weekend before who lives up by Mercer/Manitowish. If that happens, I'd be happy to drop by your field and take you a tour and let you fly the Commander.
