I joined today. I am seriously considering a Commander purchase. Trying to educate myself. I fly Pa to Florida so looking for fiki, maybe a turbo. I have substantial Meridian and Aztec time. Appreciate anyone pointing me to past posts giving insight into the Commanders habits, true speeds, etc. If my user name prompts the question, I do have a flying Jenny.

Hi. welcome to the group. this is really the place to learn all about Commanders. If you go back to Commander.org and look at the FAQ section. I am assuming you are in PA and visit Florida, you would fly right over my place on the way down. 1GA6,
Have you had a chance to ride in a Commander yet? If not there are local owners that would be glad to oblige.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Ken

Hi and welcome. You can get some performance specs from the Commander FAQ - click the 'Articles' link in the blue bar at the top of any page.

But if you want FIKI, you're looking at a 115. There were both turbo and non-turbo options. Also, A/C and non A/C. I'd suggest you make a call to Judi Anderson - long time COG member & officer who is a broker specializing in helping individuals who are either buying or selling Commanders. She has the best info that exists on every Commander in the fleet. http://www.suncoastaviation.com

thanks, Glenn.
Hi George; Welcome to the group. ..where exactly are you in PA?

Judi

Thank you for the help. I hope to fly one next week. I am looking at a 2000 Super Commander with the IO580. I am in Eagles Mere, Pa and Boca Grande, Fl. Hangarage is in Eagles Mere and Venice Florida. Winter travel causes the focus on fiki.

Hi and welcome. The 2000 Commander with an IO580 is a great ride. Hopefully your purchase goes through without a lot of speed bumps. I'm sure that I'm not telling you anything that you don't already don't know. But hopefully the shop conducting your pre purchase inspections has a deep understanding of Commanders.

Good luck with the purchase.
