I am the proud new owner of this little lady. 1975 -112A. I am thrilled and feel incredibly blessed to be the new steward of this flying machine. I am also thrilled to now be a part of a tight aviation family that is the COG! I have already learned a ton from the forums and hope I can be a contributing member as well. First flight is Monday (12-3). Insurance wants 15 hours with my CFII. Happy New Years everyone!

Dustin

Welcome Dustin! Great looking Commander.

Welcome Dustin, Love the paint scheme on your Commander. You're gonna find out that it's gonna be the best looking Plane on any ramp it's sitting On

Welcome Dustin. I noticed you have the AV-30-C (both) and I am still waiting for the APA-Mini so it can drive my auto pilot, so for now I got the vacuum system still.

Anyways, give us some feedback on those when you get more time with them (if you don't mind of course)

Welcome Dustin from the Canadian contingency ! A beautiful looking machine and you will love it. From time to time I cheat and look at other aircraft in Controller to see what they look like and always land back hard on loving our Commander. We have s/n 27 and a straight 112 which is as basic as you can get from airframe/engine configuration and it is still a wonderful aircraft to fly ! Enjoy

Thanks for the comments and warm welcome. And special thanks to gmascelli who sent me some info and checklists on the plane before I bought her...very kind. @mrcshbs (Marcos) I will keep you posted on the AV-30's. I am getting those hooked up to the GNS430W next weekend for VFR only. My plan is eventually have them (help) drive an AP. I am about 7 hours or so from finishing my IFR ticket and want a solid AP in the plane. I have 3-4 hours of ground training and about 4.5 hours of flying scheduled this coming Monday (12-3). Lot's o' work but should be a blast! Thanks all.

Welcome Dustin. Great looking Commander.

Thank you Phil. I have learned a lot already from your posts!

Nice looking 112. I have a 114 and I am at KGCM, about an hour northwest of you. If you make a cross country this way, drop me a line and I would love to meet you and check out your plane.

Thank you Sean. Would love to connect. I appreciate you reaching out.

Each airplane is different, but for me, these numbers seemed to work best (first 3.5 hours or so of flying). I started this after my flight and hope it helps anyone else new to the Commander. Still a WIP, but getting there.... happy flying.

Dustin, congratulations on the purchase! You made a very smart decision. Probably going to be hard to top it for the rest of your life!

If you want to see a great cross section of Commanders, make the short flight down to Rusk County TX KFRI down in NE Texas. You can see:

112 Hot Shot
114 Grand Turismo
114B
114B Super Commander

The GT and SC are in Adam Clark's hanger for maintenance, the 112HC is hangered at KFRI, and my 14B is just a few miles away at 07F. I believe that we have a newly purchased 112 based out of KGGG too.

Definitely a wide variety of Commanders in close proximity of each other.

Fly on down!

Thanks Stephen. That’s awesome! I grew up in Sulphur Springs and lived in Tyler for a few years. I will plan on it! That’s an awesome stable of flying machines!

Welcome Dustin! I just got my 112 TCA in October and LOVE IT! I was in Glendale AZ in December and got to meet Joel, another member who hangars there. If you are like me, you have lots of things you want to learn as well as improve with your new plane. This group is an amazing resource and a good bunch of fellow pilots. I am personally looking forward to meeting more of them in the future. Happy Commander Flying!
