I just purchased a 1977 Commander 112 TC-A (N4624W) this month as well! This is my first airplane purchase after being in a flying club for 20 years. Love the plane and looking forward to getting some tips from the group. I am in the Kansas City, MO area. I see Marcos is in St. Louis.
Sweet ... I'm not the "NEW GUY" any more!
Welcome.
Here are the 3 rules I would recommend as a newbie ......all of which I learned the hard way since May/over the last 150 hours I've flown my 112-TC ....since I got it.
Rule #1 START HERE FIRST - ALWAYS - Don't believe what anyone tells you about your commander....or agree to pay them to fix it ...until someone here tells you It's True.
Rule #2 Don't spend weeks or months figuring out mixture, power settings, etc or wondering if something not right with your airplane. START HERE FIRST... ...because they are ALMOST ALWAYS documented here already ... and Our Commanders (kinda like Porsches) have their odd-ball tendencies ....but they are completely normal I have discovered
Rule #3 START HERE FIRST - BEFORE You start flying/figuring out your airplane - Pro-actively Read up on the mixture threads, turbo threads, take-off / flap usage / runway length threads, and pretty much any other thread related to anything you question or think might be odd about your airplane ....will save you a lot of time fiddling or figuring or wondering ......while you learn things the hard way or expensive way ....if you IGNORE RULE#1
I didn't know Rule #1

I learned it about 5 different times though ....I'm a slow learner.
Now I START HERE FIRST!
Welcome! And for the record, I absolutely love my TC ...and have flown it about 150 hours since I got it in May!!!! So expect a long love relationship with your new bird!
Kind Regards,
Phil
I wasted too much time and money ....NOT ... STARTING HERE FIRST!
