I am on the autopay feature, I did get a notice my membership was expiring (after the membership was extracted from my card), I emailed the webmaster about this and after all that, my member access was cut off. Can I get some assistance from the web team? Thank you

The payment came through "unverified" under the first name of Francisco.
Is this you since you are using the name "Pat" ???

This seems to happen a lot! Not to me recently, but I see this post regularly... Radu and Bob seem to figure it out pretty quickly, but not a good situation for them or us. We're a small group with only volunteer officers; I don't know the answer, but there must be one...

We have a website to disseminate and share information about Commanders! We prefer when someone joins and pays the $75 fee to be a "full" member; however, there seems to be a venue to just register with an email. I think that creates a misconception that they are a member!

Unfortunately, we seem to raze guests and/or new "registered" website members for not being "full" members... Most are just looking for information and don't realize that they are less than full members. Let's be nicer to the new and uninitiated; unless they are obviously playing the system?

I paid my dues a few years ago and was never given access to the "members only" section. Actually, at the time, I didn't even know there was one. Since then, I've seen many who experienced the same issue. Can't this be solved once and for all? If I had known about my lack of access I would have said something at the time. I never renewed.

Actually, the most recent post from you in a members only forum was May 2012. So it would appear you did have access to all of them at some point.

This link should present you with a list of all the forums, separated into groups as "Members Only" and "Public Forums". There is also a small list of private forums for the Club officers and CPAC investors (probably don't need that last one anymore).

However, I agree that we seem to get a number of cases where folks are paying their dues and not getting the access rights updated. That process should probably get looked at to see where the breakdown is happening.

frank, in response to your statement of my post in 2012...i have no idea how it got there. i have never seen any reference to "private" anywhere i have been...also never seen the "christmas presents" or anything else. from the dialogue i've seen over the past few months there have been many who have paid and not had access. just get over it...fix it!

echoing a recent post ,after reading some of the responses to other inquiries i think many in this group are pompous asses.

Yeah, but they are our PA's! :p However, I'll be sure to soundly thrash our webmaster since he clearly isn't putting enough volunteer time into sorting this issue.

I think I have said it before, use the renew link from this forum main page when you pay and you will get automatic membership access for one year. Recurring payments from the same link should work also for auto renewals year after year. The PayPal API has been finicky at times, but it has been working ok for the past year or so with this forum.

If you chose to use the link from the main commander.org website we will receive a PayPal receipt of payment and you will get you membership setup when we get to it. It might be 5 minutes, if it just happens I am wasting time on the interweb when the note from PayPal arrives or it may take a couple of days when my money making job will not give me a break. If you chose to pay recurrently from the links on the website rather then the ones on this forum, the annual renewal is not automatic and I would NOT know about it. Send an email or pm me and I will try to find out what is happening, I will email Bob and will sort it out.

If Bob T is on, he does setup memberships also when payments arrive. If you do not get your membership setup in a few days, just holler at webmaster@commander.org, things get missed sometime, what can I say. If you paid and never got your membership, send me an email with the PayPal receipt attached to it and we will give you one year of membership.

Well Bruce thanks for your nice words. You just stirred my interest with your comments and I started searching my inbox for a trace of PayPal payments coming from you. What I found is that this "pompous ass" webmaster spent a good few hours last year restoring your access to this web board when the antispam we have was blocking your internet provider. I did not hear one thank you after all was fixed. I also mentioned it to you at the time that your membership that you paid for in 2010 expired in 2011 and if you wish you could renew. You had full membership and access to the private forums for one year when you paid. Never heard one peep after that last email.

I must add, if you feel or know you paid, please send me your last PayPal receipt of payment to COG and will give you one year of membership access retroactively.

I know I had a problem accessing the member forums when i joined COG last summer when i was getting ready to buy my Commander and I made a post somewhere about it and you (I think) had it fixed in less than a day. I thought that was very fast considering you do this as a volunteer. I did some volunteer work for 7 years for my union and I learned that 98% of people you are doing work for appreciate it but dont usually say it and the other 2% expect the world and will snipe and bitch endlessly. Ive learned these are the people I dont care to be around.

So from this pompous ass, thank you to you and the other officers of COG who spend many hours maintaining the website and answering questions from us. This is probably the best 75 bucks Ive spent in aviation.

Also a huge thank you to Ken, Frank, Bill, Scott and many many others who are so helpful in answering questions for us newer owners.

Here, hear. Brucy boy needs a time out. Don't want to be put on "The List" do ya? We take care of our own here. From their noses, to the toes to their pompous asses. Ditto Tim's statement. Any volunteer time is appreciated and ALL have well being in their hearts. If patience is not ones virtue, one should find other playmates. Enough said.

To all those Volunteers out there in Commanderland who've worked their Pompous Asses off to make this a great Web site, and and an invaluable source of information in order to Keep our Planes in the air, a very hearty Thank you for all you done for us.

let's add to this that the browser incident came long after my subscription to the private area was expired. i was not notified that i my access was restored to the private area, only to, what i thought, were the public post.

as far as my comment on attitude of posters, go back and read some of them.
they would not be received well unless you personally knew the author.
