Just picked up a 1976 114 with a partner and am based out of SE Florida (KMP). I can't stop doing a double take at our new bird and am looking forward to lots of long x-country trips (to include the Bahamas). Along those lines, I want to buy a yoke mount for my iPad mini and am having trouble finding one that doesn't slip off the back. (Figured maybe I need one that has two attach points). Has anyone had any luck with a good RAM mount? If so, I'd love to hear your solution. Thanks. Erik

Hi Erik, I have tried a bunch of them and RAM is my favourite. Yoke mount, iPad mini mount, ball mount for back of iPad mini mount and a short socket to connect them. See attached photos

If you look closely at my install you will see that I shaved off the front halves of the iPad top and bottom grips. My iPad mini 4 is in a OTTER BOX which is excellent for storage and protection and provides a 'beefier' case for the RAM mount to grip.

Welcome to the group and Commander ownership. KPMP it's a nice airport. I always stop there on the way to the Bahamas .I wanted to go back to the Bahamas again this year too, but have you checked out their new fee structure. There is some threads on the beach owners group of people putting out between $550 and $650 in fees. Aopa is trying to convince them that their new fee structure is contrary to what they're trying to accomplish because many just won't go there given the current cost structure. I sent a note to their aviation department to express my feelings and told them that I would not be coming back until they get realistic with the fees.

This is what it used to be like to go to the Bahamas.

Holy smokes! Looks like I need to do some research before I get gouged. Thanks for the heads up.

I use a RAM setup for my Mini, but I used the RAM Toughclaw medium size and used a short and a long arm to get the best angle and position with my 79 114A. I got a rigid mount and no "drooping" problems using the Tough Claw version. When mounted from the top, it slightly obscured my view of the lower panel but I have a lot of RAM stuff from my motorcycle mounts and found that the best setup for me was to point the ball downward and then use the two arms to pivot up and around from below.
