Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

Pat,

Ballpark, what is the window for hooking up at Put in Bay? I have a 500+ leg getting there that afternoon.

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

John,
You could come in late afternoon, fly over the island, land and we meet you at the airport. You would find that enjoyable, even if you only spend a half hour on the island.
We will not be pressured to be any where at a fixed time. If the group would like to have dinner on the island instead of Port Clinton, that works. The airport is only open in the daytime so we need to off the island before 9:00pm. When get the list of arrival times we can contact everyone to do what they want.
We will fly around the island when we depart because it is that pretty and it is only 7 miles to PCW.

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

I fly over to Put-in-Bay many times a summer and there are many really good restaurants. My favorite though is the very casual Boardwalk where you sit on a big dock the runs out into the channel between the islands. Great views with sailboats and power boats coming and going all the time. Their Lobster Bisque is the best this side of Bar Harbor, ME.

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

Keeping our fingers crossed for good wx. Getting excited.:)

I should be able to make it in time. (mid Friday)

I'm taking your advice from 2007 or so and changing to 600X6's tonight to get that extra 5 knots.:p

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

Pat, I Just found out I am getting back a day early from a business trip, and whereas I had thought I was going to a family thing in Sturgis on Friday, now we don't have to be there until Saturday. Thus I may be able to join you all on Friday afternoon on Put-in-Bay. Probably depart when you all hop over to Sandusky. (PIB is a 25-minute flight for me.) What time is the official early arrival on Friday?

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

All the details of the trip including target times are posted on the information thread. See one of the later post. Arrival times are flexible and we will need to communicate on the cell phones.
After we see then people expect to arrive, the group can decide where we want to eat. Put-in-Bay has better restaurants than Port Clinton but we have a flight to get to Port Clinton. No 8 hours bottle to throttle. If that makes a difference. I looked at staying on Put-in-Bay months ago and they wanted 2 nights at $400. I have stayed on the island and it is not fancy. Expensive for basic. We are in the peak season and many people book well in advance. Some might find a cheap room but more those making last minute reservation, it would be a problem.
Traverse City has a lot of good restaurants and bars

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

We are close to the trip. Now it is up to mother nature.

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

I won't make it, fuel pump out again, only 30 hours on o/h that sucks Steve

Re: Great Lakes Fly In Attendees

I wouldn't mind leaving for Mackinac Island
this am-as I would have one of those lively
53 knot tailwinds...
