Thinking about my grandson flying with his Dad, a pilot, and me ... that if he flew he would be a 4th generation. My Dad flew in the Pacific Theater WWII (P51's off Saipan then Iwo Jima). He passed on when I was 24. My step-dad of 36 years, 96 and still going strong, flew P51s as well, in the CBI (China-Burma-India) Theater (then Sabres, then Super Sabres, then F-104s and a couple of others.)

So my son Conor is a 3rd generation pilot. Do we have any others on the Board? It is possible there could be a 4th generation if the chain goes back to the WWI era. I'm guessing there are a few out there.

I think its a good possibility the Grandson could be a 4th generation. Anyone else have similar histories back to WWII or earlier in their family?

Hey there.

Are you getting my emails and/or PMs?

Re: Generations

Dang,
just read this after posting to your grandson's thread:

My dad was career USAF (Army Air Corps), WWII B-24's, switched to cargo, C-119's Korea, then C- 130's Viet Nam.
I went the Army Helo route, Cold War era.
My two son's are career / active duty Army Avn Warrant Officers, Post 9-11 deployments (Iraq/Afghan - 7 deployments + 2 x 12 month Korean postings between them)
Here's hopping for a 4th generation aviator . . . (in a more peaceful setting;))

Re: Generations

My Dad and Mom were both WWII era pilots. My brother and I are currently as well as my son. Looking to pass it on to the grandchildren (4th generation, hopefully!)

Re: Generations

That is especially cool about your Mom. At my home base, Detroit Willow Run which was built specifically for B24 Bomber production, the vast majority of those Bombers were flown from there To at least Gander, Newfoundland an often all the way to England, by women. That changed a whole lot of folks thinking about women and flying.
