Hi folks,

I am mightily proud to join this group as I have taken possession of a Rockwell Commander 114, rego VH-RNS here in Australia. I bought her from another member on here.

I collected her on Saturday and have about 4 hrs under my belt and hope to increase that steadily in the coming months. I have a few plans for her so will look forward to the flying and the advice and experience from this forum.

Cheers!

Mark

Sorry Mark but I have to agree with Judy on the T-shirt! The airplane looks good though!!

Hahaha - thanks for the welcome. I can see though that for both of you, your excellent taste in aeroplanes doesn’t extend to your appreciation of one of the best teams in the NFL. It’s ok, your’re welcome to make your own mistakes! Go Pack, Go!

RNS has a few cosmetic issues I intend to address in the coming weeks so I’ll pore over the forum for advice but if I may, could I ask for pointers here?

My plans include:

Cabin door trim and panels replacement - where to get them please?
CHT gauge rewiring (over reads constantly)
fuel sender replacement (over reads on both)
landing gear LED kit
LED NAV lights and strobes
LED panel although may upgrade the whole panel with modern avionics
flap gap seals kit
flap hinge has some play
tail fin angle kit
Wing root fairings
trim and rigging needs adjustment. Needs a lot of left wing down and left rudder at present.

I would also love to hear what recommendations people have as a new owner. I’m an ex military pilot with just under 1000 hrs to my name so flying isn’t an issue though this is more complex than the 172s and PA-28s I’ve been used to. It is however my first aeroplane so as a new owner, I’d love to hear what you would suggest I check.

I’m really excited about the adventures I’m about to have with this magnificent aircraft. At 6’4”, I’ve struggled to find something that would fit me and sitting in my 114 yesterday, I knew I had made an excellent decision.

Cheers!

Hello Mark and welcome from the Canadian contingent ! You fill find tons of information, recommendations and opinions on pretty much every topic you have listed here. Check out the threads here on all of those topics and feel free to ask any questions. Especially fuel senders.... many of us have lettered in that topic !

Mark, call Carl @ RCM normalizing for your gear landing light brackets, the flap gap seals and the wing root fairings. He advertises on the COG main webpage.

Welcome Mark. Enjoy owning a 114. Looks like a great ship. Don't hesitate to ask any questions to the COG members. There's a huge wealth of knowledge.

Welcome Mark-mate! First, I love the Packers shirt. Pay no attention to the riff-raff here. Great to see Peter Sweeney's 114 find a good home. I almost flew up to an Aussie Commander Fly-in at Chinchilla in Queensland with him in 2013, but could not quite work out the schedule. I was there on business. So I would have flown your plane if that had worked. If you have not linked up with Rob Hendy at Tocumwal, do that! Rob is very knowledgeable and just a wonderful guy, along with his wife Jenny. I flew his 112 while there. And Julian Dinsdale, just north of Sydney, another great guy and his wife Pam. I flew Julian's 114. So, I am proud to have some OZ airports in my logbook in an AC11. If COVID really gets knocked down here (unfortunately significant number of our bogans have lost the plot over here, so this may be unlikely,) I hope to come to OZ this winter, summer your time. Perhaps we can meet. Enjoy the Commander and feel free to ask any of us, any questions at all. G'day, mate!
