Fuel Prices

Re: Fuel Prices

Speaking of unwanted GA, check out the price at Chicago O'hare.

Sea Tac airport $8.43 and Boeing field 6.06 obviously they do not want GA.

Re: Fuel Prices

$4.85 self serve in Prescott Arizona, but most pilots fly 19 miles northeast to Cottonwood Arizona to fill up at $3.35 per gallon

Re: Fuel Prices

$4.00 gal today at HWY, so much better than $5.25-$5.37 last summer , Some other places cheaper($3.79 Shannkn"Fredericksburg ) but not all that convenient as 'Put it on the Tab' with usually 30-45- days b4 billed. And add a Landing & Takeoff what are you saving for an hour flight?

Remember I paid over $6 at Batavia (Sportys) enroute FRH 2012. That was not Sport-ing!

I need to move to where the fuel is cheaper! ;)

When I buy fuel I am very particular about where I buy it, My local airport I avoid as they do not know how to test the fuel and never do it., Just a few miles away are true pro's who check it every day. I am happy to pay a few cents more.

I have half way considered fuel tank at the farm, but not sure about the legality and liability involved, the only way to do it would be a co-opertive where we all own the fuel and tank and pay for it at delivery.

BTW we used to have a Landmark here in Albany, we all called them "Landfill Aviation" as they hated all aircraft under 12,500 lbs. Best thing we ever did was getting rid of them.

Life is a barrel of fun.

Yes, price is always a factor, depending on variables. If just tooling around, may as well land where they have cheaper fuel. Monroe, WI was $3.77 until they bumped it up a few weeks ago, $3.90 or so now.

Of course if one goes even 4 gallons out of the way, to save 20 cents a gallon, then take on 30 gallons, no $$ is ‘saved’. Besides low cost fuel, facilities, transportation, or an airport food option is nice.

That all said, cheaper fuel does get my attention. It’s also a positive to have ‘fresh’ clean fuel, rather than the seldom used pump at the high priced field. I remember a picture of a Tree Frog in the nozzle, less likely at the pump that gets used every hour.

I go 16 gallons (about 30 mins each way) away from my airfield and their $5.85/gallon to get gas at Williston (X60) and their $3.85/gallon 100LL. I save around $20.

The one good side with this Corona virus, it’s dragging oil down. I know it won’t filter down like unleaded auto fuel, but any bit helps.

I’m hoping warmer weather slows this latest ailment.
