Just playing around on Google Earth tonight found a great picture.

A flight of Commanders in the camping area at Merrill Field Anchorage.

2880 Merrill Field Drive, also 2900 where I can read my tail number.

They must have taken the ground pictures while we were there.

It is Google Earth and then down to street level.

Life is a barrel of fun

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Good get Ken. Move up and down the street and you can see just about all the planes. What are the chances...?

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

That's pretty good timing on your parts for being there when those images were being recorded. It could be many years before they change them.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Makes you think a bit. Had to deal with the local town officials for some permits recently for a building project and they pulled up a high res sat photo of our lot. You can see everything including vehicles parked in the drive.

Next thing will be to get an excise tax bill in the mail because your neighbor parked their boat in your drive for a few days...

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

I must be missing something...I do not see the AK Commanders. Found the lot where we tied down on the SE corner of the airport, including the little briefing booth on the end, but do not see any parked planes.

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Am I looking in the wrong place?

Mebbe.

a) Go to maps.google.com
b) Type "2868 Merrill Field Dr, Anchorage, AK" into the search box
c) Drag the little orange man from the left side of the map onto the red, round, "A", pointer on the map

That should bring up street view, and right there in the ramp area are the Commanders sittin' all perty like.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Yours is there Bill. Back row.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

I had a hard time finding the Commanders as well. I may have an older version of Google Map. Type in 2880 Merrill field Dr, when the map gets there, there aren't any Commanders in the Sat picture, you have to go to the Box on the left and Click on Street view, that pulls up the Street view spots. They are in those Groups of Photo's.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

OK, found us. But we do not show on the Google EARTH overhead shot...I needed to type the address into Google MAPS to see the AK Commanders...10J is behind the tree next to Starkey (501J)

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Think he's actually in the front row next to me. Move up the street a bit and you'll get a better view BH.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Yeah, 10J was between Bailey and Starkey. I'll keep strolling down the road for a better view.

Addendum...yup, there we be, nestled as I thought between 453TC and 501J. Was strolling down the road the wrong way before.

Amazing technology!

I do not think it is very nice to keep reminding those of us that could not go what a great time you all had

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

There's always a slot open in the diamond formation on the next trip for the Lord of Langelot.

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

I think we should all just go to Langelot for a gathering!

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Im cool with that

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

If we all start hanging out in Langelot, will we become Langoliers?

Re: Commanders in Anchorage

If you ask Rick's wife she'll tell you No. We'll still just be a bunch of pigs....
