So I decide today - I haven't been up for a minute and 42W has to be missing me. I taxi out, there is a Bonanza taxiing near by, so I am focused watching the taxiways and myself and trying to make sure all is safe and good.

Complete my run-up and then do some pattern work. Finally, sun getting low in the sky, hot in the cabin - I am ready to call it good. I land, taxi in and look in front of me and do a double take -- what????? another Commander at Front Range????? Nahhhhh.... but sure enough!

Pretty nice looking bird too: N314CT another 1976 114 - it's out of Arlington.

I left a note for them with the FBO saying hello - just to be neighborly!

It looks great... i had to taxi by pretty fast as 42W would have noticed my lustful look at the paint - then broken something minor to get my attention and more AMUs

Dean, Thank you for the note. Getting to Front Range was due to Centenial Airport could not hanger me if weather was bad. Front Range was an awesome airport. We usually fly to Fort Collins and drive to RMNP from there, but decided to visit freinds in Denver. I received your friendly note upon departure. I look forward to meeting you upon a future flight to Colorado. I usually fly 2-3 times per year to Colorado to fly fish. My daugher has worked at the YMCA of Rockies for the past few summers. Thank you for your kind works on my Commander. Tail number is wedding anniversary (29 years) and the first initial of our children's names. Chip May - N314CT.

Chip,

Glad to have you at Front Range for a minute. It lets the tower and everyone know I am not some guy with an ego - there are other Commanders around :-)

I agree the folks at KFTG are so great. When 4742W came into my life - they said they would hangar me until a hangar opened up and have been very quick to respond to any MX request for my hangar.

Hopefully we can meet up sometime when you get back up here - or If I make it down to TX. I will probably be headed to McKinney before too terribly long.

Congrats on the anniversary and your kids - and wishing you safe travels!

Chip,

Very clever using your wedding anniversary as part of your N-number. No excuse now for ever forgetting that important date :D

Re: Commander at KFTG!!! (other than me)

Awesome looking paint scheme, thinking about repaint this coming winter and I'm torn between staying with original factory paint colors and scheme or go with something more 2016'ish.

Chip I love the colors and design.

Great minds think alike -- I did the same thing when reserving the N-number for the Bearhawk Patrol I'm building. It will be N318TX. The 318 is for our anniversary (40 years already!), and the TX is (of course) for Texas, where we met and live.

My biggest problem with the current airplane (Citabria N9502S) is that I either slip and say "Commander 9502S" or for some strange reason, my mind goes to "Citation 9502S"... LOL Nothing could be farther from a Citation than my lowly 100-HP Citabria 7ECA. But it's what my addled brain keeps coming out with when I'm trying to concentrate on my tailwheel training!
