Had a (as the kids say) sweeeeeet time in Diamond Head on the Gulf at Jay's yesterday. Stayed with Lonnie Friday night with the free entertainment provided by Cali and Kenzi, and we flew both the Commanders to 66Y and met up with Jay and Ian. Ian flew in with his stunning, newly-painted 114 TC (as someone posted today, 114 Totally Cool.) Jay and his buddy Bill had their Stearmans out and I notched rides in both. Great lunch then another cazy flight for me to Houston, avoiding Cells all the way and just sneaking into Hooks Field, Houston, where I was able to put my bird up in Alex's hangar for the week. Pretty remarkable ... great friends from COG taking great care of me. Now sitting at IAH for a commercial flight to SLC ... 3 hours late. Back to Houston tomorrow eve.

Great looking airplane, Ian.

Re: COG in Diamondhead

Great meeting up with Scott and Lonnie. The weather forecast sucked but here in the deep south we have learned to deal with the 50% chance of thunderstorms and went ahead anyway. So, as it turned out, the thunderstorms held off while we we there. Jay and Scott should both have a short video of them taking off in Jay's Stearman which I hope one of them will post.

Mitzi (Jay's wife) brought in totally awesome huge a*s pastries for breakfast and later we had lunch at a waterfront resturant about 200 yards from the field.

Lonnie hand propped a 450 hp Stearman twice!!!! His new name is Armstrong.

Four commander owners, two Stearman's and various other visitors (Cessna 172, a local Commanche Owner, a couple of local A&P's all stopped by.

It was hot 95 degrees high humidity I weighed in 6.2 lbs lighter this morning (true) due to water loss. Had a few beers today and should be re-hydrated by now.

Fun times.

Re: COG in Diamondhead

What a great day. I'm glad everyone enjoyed their "Low and Slow" Stearman rides. Maybe next time we will have more Stearmans as well some of the war birds based in the area. Let's plan a weekend to include a pig roast and a round or two of Golf. Looking forward to meeting more "Commander" owners in Sept.
BTW Ian your plane looks "Super" I'm gonna throw rocks at mine now.....
