Hi all. I am not having any luck selling C-GBGB and if I drop the price lower I might as well give it away (20K). Is there anyone with experience in parting out the airplane? Is there anyone who buys engine cores? Airframes? Props? Landing gear? Grasping at straws and any advise would be greatly appreciated. Peter:(

Why don't you see what one of the recyclers would offer you?

Peter,

Where are you located?

Hi Peter,

What condition is the plane/parts in? I tried searching your tail number for a listing but couldn't find anything online... Sorry if I'm covering old ground but I checked COPA and Contoller.com. 3K seems really low but I guess a recycler would be looking to turn a profit also... could you post some pictures on here if you have any? It seems like such a shame to retire another commander :-(

We have a 1972 112A here in Ontario and occasionally look for parts (last year a rudder) if you wanted to shoot me an email at aviator.cyfd@gmail.com with your contact information I will reach out to you this week for a chat.

All the best, Rod.

The plane is in reasonable condition. It is a fairly stock 1973, with a newer Garmin radio and GPS. It was flying without issues before the annual last December.

What was the issue that grounded it ?
It was airworthy in December - what happened that made it not so. Or is it simply out of annual ?

Peter,
In the old days before GPS the value of a non-flying aircraft to an aircraft dismantler was in the avionics. These could be disposed of fairly quickly and the rest of the dismantling process was the “profit”. The issue was to have a cheap place to store the carcass during the dismantling process which might last for years. This scenario does not work well for a single owner to part out an aircraft.

So what do you have?

A good Prop (2 or 3 blade?)

A good engine (no prop strike)?

Avionics (WAAS vs non-WAAS)?

Cowling with undamaged gear doors?

Low time wings (remember part numbers have changed over the years)?

Undamaged control surfaces

Good landing gear (used to be a good seller when people were flying & wrecking A/C more)?

These are the big items and if you do some math. Getting to 20K may take a while…

Aircraft Boneyards are just not making the kind of money that they used to make because people aren’t flying and wrecking aircraft like they use to

Regards - Clark

Hello Peter,

I just purchased a 1977 112 TCA and it has a 2 blade prop. If yours has a 3 blade prop and still interested in parting some items out, I might be interested in that. Let me know any details. Thanks.

I do have a 3 blade Herzell prop with low hours. No prop strike, engine had great compression. I do have a few serious tire kickers at the moment, I will see how this all plays out. Thanks everyone.

Hi. If you have an ADS-B compliant transponder... I could use one :)

That is a fine looking airplane. I like the COPA advertisement with the link. I hope it sells quickly for you at a fair price.

Hi Peter, I am new to the owners group. I am in the process of purchasing a '76 112TC, but am always looking for something else to keep me busy. I was wondering if you still have the airplane. If so let me know and I would like to talk with you about it. You can PM me if you would like. Thanks

Has anyone imported an airplane from Canada to the U.S. ?

I'm actually excited... The plane was reregistered to a very local field to me. Hopefully we see it flying again soon! I'm gonna pop by and chat with the new owner shortly to see what he plans with the plane. Good to see another Commander in Ontario!
