2018 KSNH Savannah TN Annual Cookout 4/7/18

Well everyone, now is the season for my annual cookout. This year due to Easter and other events I decided to have the cookout on the 7th of April, the weekend before Sun-In-Fun. I figured maybe catch of few people flying down to Sun-In-Fun. :) Anyway I will be providing everything Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Some type of salad Potato/Broccoli, Chips, desert, drinks etc. Menu is not totally finalized. Twila likes to experiment with new dishes.

Last year we had about 40 aircraft come in from all over and about 120 people. I think a lot of that was due to beautiful weather to fly that day too.

What is new to this event for us Commanders anyway, I have tentative approval to use one of the big hangers for a Southeast Commanders Maintenance Day. The hanger can hold about 4 or 5 aircraft for whoever wants to use it to share maintenance practices. The only issue is I will not be able to do much organizing on this. My focus would be on the cookout. I do have tools, jacks etc. that can be used. I will be talking to my A/I to see if he can attend as well.

If there is anyone willing to help with the maintenance part, it would be most helpful.

More info will follow and I hope you can all show!!!

Mike

Ugh...I will be in Greece that weekend.

Re: 2018 KSNH Savannah TN Annual Cookout 4/7/18

Don't fret, Greece is better than Tennessee :p:D

TN is my birth state...I may have to debate that with you over a beer lol..

Brett,
You need to come on out and enjoy the cookout and southern hospitality.
I will extend an offer that anyone in the group who travels the farthest will get a bottle of Tennessee's finest "Single Barrel". :)
Dean, sound familiar?

Mike,

And I thought I was "special"! >sigh< guess not LOL

I am trying to see where I will be and if I can make it this year.

The Bank of Dean is being difficult with the fuel budget this year - they are saying the other departments (avionics, preventative mx, etc) are over the 2017 numbers. There will be a board meeting in about a month - I should have a better idea then. (this should give you a nice preview of the crazy in my head :-))

I hope to make it

Dean

And Mike ups the stakes...
I’ve flown further for a free lunch, but hey, a
Tennessee bourbon would look good on the bar also.
I was saving gas money for the Maintenance day in
Nova Scotia...I mean New York, but hmmm, this changes things

I've made a couple of Mike's shindigs and if you leave hungry its your own fault. As far as a bourbon, that may imply an overnight . . .

Classic was when Todd Hardin and I came whipping around the ramp last year like we knew what we were doing and parked just in front of the FBO at the same time. Lonnie smoothly came out and asked if those were Pipers we were flying??
Having not made Lonnie's acquaintance before, you could see the hairs on Todd's neck stand straight out as Todd proudly retorted 'Heck No!, we were Commander drivers' . . .
Lonnie's Super bird was in the hangar out of sight . . .

Recommend attending if any can swing it...

I like it . . . .:)

In the old days we'd have Squadron party shirts / suits that we'd wear to the club on Friday nights. Unfortunately - they were prone to shrinkage and no way they will fit anymore . . .:o:eek:

Mike Appreciate the invite and the bourbon bribery is certainly a nice touch and very tempting. If I were retired I would be there in a second. 2 more years and I am there. I love me some Southern Hospitality. My daughter attends the University of Alabama where she is surrounded by good people, and visiting is always a hoot. The football however, makes my Buckeye Alum heart ache. Roll Tide and Go Buckeyes.

Jason KY is my birth state, in fact I think Ft. Knox Ireland Army Hospital is in your back yard. I'll pass on the debate, but will definitely take you up on the beer(s) at the fly-in. Maybe the Fly-in organizers can throw in a bottle of single barrel to the pilot with the farthest flight plan to Augusta and we can drink that.

Yep..Ft Knox is right by me. Fly by it all the time.

I really wish I could make this trip. Just crappy timing.

We are about 2 weeks away from the cookout. Twila and I are getting food lineup ready. If you can I would love to see a bunch of Commanders.

If you can, let me know if your coming. It would help on determining how much food to purchase.

Thanks :)

I haven’t played in over 10 years, but if you want to play the next day I get my clubs out of retirement and you can see how bad I play.. :)

We are coming. Count for 2 person.
It will be great to see you again. I am going to try and have all the Commanders parked together.

Re: 2018 KSNH Savannah TN Annual Cookout 4/7/18

Mike,

Going into annual this Sunday, knock on wood - if things go smoothly we're going to try and make it.

KSNH is a very comfortable field to work, large parking ramp and nice FBO/ staff.

Re: 2018 KSNH Savannah TN Annual Cookout 4/7/18

Really bummed I cannot make this...

We had a change of plans and decided to go to Eleuthra instead of Greece. So, I will be checking out some places for us when we do the Bahamas trip :D
