The news about heat in Phoenix reminded me of Phoenix 1991, temperature was 118F. I brought N4890W back from the factory at Willey Post Airport with a stop in Sky Harbor. The flight was great but I got fuel at the FBO at the west end of runway 8 and had to taxi to 25L with the commercial jets. I was sweating so bad that I could not wear my sun glasses.
The thinks we remember.

Re: 1990 Trivia

If we ever meet...I will tell you about a very ignorant man (cough cough) on AZ temps in July and a cross country motorcycle trip that led his wife and himself through Devil's Canyon in the middle of the day.

I will never forget that heat and I was minutes away from heat stroke when we pulled into Lake Meade.

What a lesson....

Re: 1990 Trivia

July 28, 1995, we were about half way done on the great Sedam Family Roadtrip in our 28" Damon Motor Home. I combined worked in about 10 or 12 cities on the trip. But thankfully, that day plus the day before and after, we had a company meeting at Marriott Mountain Shadows. Room was paid by company so we parked the MoHo. Second hottest day in the history of Phoenix, 121 degrees! Our kids were 14, 12, 9 and 6. It was so hot that the pools were like hot-tubs. My wife would only let the kids go to the pool for 10 minutes max, then back in the shade for 10. She is a pediatric nurse so she watched them closely. Two of them are redheads, too!

It was completely insane.

Did you put grandma on the roof of the car? I know they got that idea from you.

:)

Yes ... and the family dog, too! They were so close, you know?

Re: 1990 Trivia

My Army Helo unit (early 90's) stopped in Lake Havasu overnight enroute to S CA for training. The next morning our skids had sank into the asphalt on the ramp. Ooops ..
