    Alpine, TX (E38)

I was going to suggest getting the Chicken Fried steak at the Ft. Davis Drug Store hotel. When we do motorcycle rides out there we stay at the Stone Village Tourist camp. It looks rough from the outside but has been renovated very nicely. Glad y'all had a good trip!

Old Commander fuselage on the side of the road

I was driving back from Denver and saw this old 112 fuselage on the side of US 287 in Clarendon TX. I found the old ASN writeup of the accident, which occurred in 1983 in Chesterton MD. How weird that the last remains would be chained to a pole on the side of the road in north TX...

    N4698w, '78 112TCA crash in UK

Looking at the photos and maps on ASN, it seems like he impacted an embankment that's directly in line with the departure end of the runway in hilly territory. The total distance is about 3800 feet from the end of the runway. There is an open plowed field just past the rise RIP Chris

    First GA flight

Neat! I have been using full = 34 gal. Tabs 24 gal and the edge of the fuel level is visible straight down below the tab as 15 gallons.

    Air Facts journal

I really liked the article! I hope to go to Sun and Fun one day, it sounds, well "FUN" I just zoomed in on the panel pic and at 8500 feet, Phil is showing what looks like 8 GPH at 16.5 Inches and I assume (can't see the prop RPM) 22 or 2300 and getting a true airspeed of 130 kts. Is the B...

Hello from So Florida - any iPad mounting solutions?

I use a RAM setup for my Mini, but I used the RAM Toughclaw medium size and used a short and a long arm to get the best angle and position with my 79 114A. I got a rigid mount and no "drooping" problems using the Tough Claw version. When mounted from the top, it slightly obscured my view of...

    N112bm

Joel. had researched all that on here as well, hoping to just fabricate a set, the problem was the upper connector structure that attach to the underside of the baggage floor were gone too. Since I did not have the ground down originals, and I could not obtain engineering drawings for the...

    N112bm

It required a teardown and a new prop. This was the previous owner and 20 years ago. When I purchased her, They had just done another overhaul and put on a McCaully 3 blade so I got the aircraft at 250 hrs SMOH and Prop.

    N112bm

114SG had a gear up in the 1990s with the previous owner and the only thing that was difficult to repair was ....the boarding steps! I have all the approved engineering drawings for the repairs and they were all pretty much straightforward metalwork and reinforcement. I lucked out and found a...

    Cool Inflight Photos

Post up cool or interesting photos from your adventures. My first airborne rainbow! I kept on pointing it out to Lana and couldn't understand why she was not seeing it. Then I realized, she was wearing polarized sunglasses.

    Vacation and gear issues

Rolf, Sounds like a good investment. I'm adding it to next years upgrades.

    Vacation and gear issues

Rolf, Mine are proabably original, I have not seen anything in the old logs, but seem to be in good shape. The e-dump test is pretty impressive. Have we heard of any significant failure or is it mostly peace of mind right now? Chris
