At about 260 hours someone replaced all the cylinders/and put in brass piston pin end caps. no issues since then until last November when metal found in filter. Pulled #2 cylinder, found spalling on lower shell bearing. Please...

Anyone interested in a non flying 112?

I do have a 3 blade Herzell prop with low hours. No prop strike, engine had great compression. I do have a few serious tire kickers at the moment, I will see how this all plays out. Thanks everyone.

Anyone interested in a non flying 112?

The plane is in reasonable condition. It is a fairly stock 1973, with a newer Garmin radio and GPS. It was flying without issues before the annual last December.

Anyone interested in a non flying 112?

Hi all. I am not having any luck selling C-GBGB and if I drop the price lower I might as well give it away (20K). Is there anyone with experience in parting out the airplane? Is there anyone who buys engine cores? Airframes? Props? Landing gear? Grasping at straws and any advise would be greatly...

    What would you do?

Re: What would you do? Update, I took a number of your suggestions; got some quotes, and spoke at length with Jane. This has helped me formulate my way ahead. I am still waiting to hear from a company in BC as they may be interested in the plane as is. If this does not pan out I will be putting...

    What would you do?

Re: What would you do? Hi all, Thanks all for your responses, much appreciated. He showed me the cut apart filter, lots of small flakes, all non ferous, so best guess is aluminum. The mechanic did mention having a engine flush/inspection done. His thoughts are that one of the end caps which...

    What would you do?

Hi everyone. I am an owner of a 1973 112, serial number 30. Great flying bird, and have been enjoying her for 3 years now. So here goes my problem. She is in for her annual, and there is a lot of aluminum in the oil filter. (only about 26 flying hours this year, nothing noticed last year). The...

    Hi there to all

Hi there, My name is Peter Schuttinga and I live in Victoria BC, Canada. I've been flying for almost 5 years, mainly rental 172's (M and S), and co-owned a small STITS SA11A for a few years. Fun little plane, but little. I just spotted an ad for a 1973 Commander 112A in my area, which really...
