    Commander Siblings!!

Well, it happened again! Yesterday afternoon a friend and I flew down in my Commander to Carlsbad (Palomar Airport, KCRQ, northern San Diego County) for dinner with some friends who flew in from Van Nuys. When I got there, there was ONE spot vacant in the transient parking area, which put me...

And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce...

Re: And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce... When I posted a similar introduction to the plane on the Pilots of America forum, I expected some congratulations, "fly safely" comments, and some "nice plane" comments. I also expected, "Hard to get parts for that" and "Should have gotten a 182"...

Flying in Texas vs. Flying in Europe

This is crazy! There are COG members both in Texas and in Europe, and the attached photo puts flying in both those areas in an interesting perspective. Gerry

And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce...

Re: And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce... Good idea, Neal. Checking that IS in the POH in Section 4 Normal Procedures, under "Before Starting Engine." But it makes sense to make a final check of the knob during the run-up. Thanks.

And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce...

Re: And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce... Update: I was able to secure a CFI through a friend from a pilot's club I'm in. He meets all the insurance requirements, so I didn't need to ask them to okay him. He has over 5000 total hours, over 2500 retract hours, and 31 hours in...

    Re-Introduction

Re: Re-Introduction Thanks for the welcome, David. Exceptional taste in AIRPLANES, I assume you mean! ;-) Thank you Glenn and Terry for the congrats. I'm very excited and happy! Thanks also to you, Brett. I did meet a few folks at the lunch bunch fly-in, thanks to Joe Cavanaugh's kindness...

And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce...

Re: And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce... Thanks very much to all of you for the kind welcomes and words of congratulations. I'm happy to be a REAL member of the group, now! As for the interior, the co-owners took the B model brochure to the shop, pointed to the picture of the B interior...

And Now, FINALLY, Allow Me to Introduce...

Well, finally, on Thursday 9/3, ~3:40 p.m. Pacific Time, it was done. I'm now officially and legally a Commander owner! Yes, I have a 50% share, but I've been assured that I'm permitted to refer to it as "my plane." :D Here are a few of the shots I took of it today (Friday): Gerry

    Re-Introduction

Re: Re-Introduction No, it's not the same plane. This plane was first sold to someone on Pennsylvania, but less than two years later it was sold to someone in Florida. At some point it appears that the Commander Aircraft Company owned the plane for awhile, but I haven't gone over the title...

    Re-Introduction

Re: Re-Introduction Oops, I forgot to thank Neal Clayton for his recommendation of Gibbs Flying Service at Montgomery Field (KMYF) for the pre-buy. Wayne Harris, the Director of Maintenance, Henry, and lead mechanic Lyle were all terrific. Three other A&Ps there also helped. I appreciated...

    Re-Introduction

Hello again from Los Angeles! It's going to happen! I'm going to be a Commander owner!! :D :D :D The pre-buy inspection took place Thursday, and found no deal-killers. There are items that need attention, besides the high-time engine, but nothing critical. One thing that is relatively...

Re: 2015 Best of the Best $100 Hamburger Awards Sorry for my misinterpretation! Thanks again for sharing this with us. Gerry

2015 Best of the Best $100 Hamburger Awards

Re: 2015 Best of the Best $100 Hamburger Awards Interesting, thanks. I'm a little surprised the Waypoint Cafe at Camarillo (KCMA) isn't on the list. The place is always packed, and some on-line reviews I've read say that it might just be the best airport restaurant in the country. Anyway...

    Ahoy from Atlanta

Re: Ahoy from Atlanta Nice paraphrasing of that old (and still current) radio commercial here in SoCal, Vince! :-) Gerry P.S. Welcome, Brandon. I'm not an owner yet either, but working on it.
