    Commander glide ratio

Re: Commander glide ratio Best that I can put together based on flight track etc...we dropped about 1000' in altitude over a 3 minute period after engine failure and flew about 3050' over ground, after setting up for 85 knots initially and at about 200 pounds less than gross weight.

    Commander glide ratio

Re: Commander glide ratio All bets are off when you find yourself in a situation you could not have planned for and the prop stops turning...let me tell ya...the ones who make it out alive, God saved.

    Commander glide ratio

Re: Commander glide ratio Airframe is good yes, but we need springs on the seats....If the seats would've had springs like the Cessna and Piper, my wife and I would not have broken our backs, I don't think.

    Commander glide ratio

Re: Commander glide ratio Yep, from dead stick experience, you set up for glide speed and find directly in front of you, what you believe will work. My plane dropped like a rock at about 100 ft or so above ground, from what I can remember anyway. :-). I'm glad she dropped where she...

I can cross LAS off the bucket list....

Re: I can cross LAS off the bucket list.... Yep, not too friendly...restaurant sucks, sorry to say, and they don't pick the 'little guys' up on the ramp in a timely fashion. ATC there are not very friendly and Apex Aviation tried to rip me off also. It's a county FBO so that is part of the...

I can cross LAS off the bucket list....

Re: I can cross LAS off the bucket list.... I always fly into HND but it is usually bumpy as hell...aaargh...wonder if LAS would be better? Also, thought I might try North Las Vegas airport. Winds at even 10-15 knots in the mountains north of Searchlight, just before HND are not for the faint...

FAA Medical Reform - and they said it would never happen

Re: FAA Medical Reform - and they said it would never happen Sounds more difficult to me than just getting my 3rd class FAA med exam every two years?

Re: Commander flight video Wow Brian..that's great thanks...I'll look up the details online for your watch system...sounds pretty good. I will have to install ADS-B soon but my wife, anxious as she is, would really like something immediate ha ha. Don't want to dump a bunch of money for...

    112 Hot Shot

Re: 112 Hot Shot Joel....is your engine (turbo) basically the same as mine with the hot shot conversion EXCEPT that you have 210 HP and an automatic wastegate? It seems to me a lot of comments on the forums relate the TCA with the Hot Shot pretty closely in practical circumstances!? Do you...

    112 Hot Shot

Re: 112 Hot Shot I sent an email to Carl, haven't heard yet. I have a crack in the Y fitting for the turbo on my 112A. Wondering if, and where, I may be able to get a replacement part?? It's been welded once before by previous owner, don't want to try and repair again if I don;t have to.

    112 Hot Shot

Re: 112 Hot Shot Thanks for sharing Adger....I haven't gotten 165-170 gs yet but close. It seems I'm always flying 'into the wind', or 'not high enough'. My wife gets cold above 10,000' ha ha. Well we are from AZ. Glenn, yeah. I get it. :-) I'm new here so I was wondering last night if...

    112 Hot Shot

Re: 112 Hot Shot Brian...how does your plane do at 17,500? I have wondered about the 'book' service ceiling reading only 16,000'. I haven't taken my 112 HS above 13,000 yet....

    112 Hot Shot

Re: 112 Hot Shot I live in AZ. I also use the hot shot turbo on take off. KFFZ is 1300'+ elevation We always take off on red line turbo. I monitor the manual wastegate during take off and reduce if necessary. I've taken off full fuel, 90 less than gross weight in 100 degrees +. CharLee...
