Carl, do you think it’s kind of a push for less drag Vs more power required to maintain the same lift due to the effect on the wing? Asking for a friend.
Jay, sorry to hear about your buddy. I’ve landed in the Pecan Plantation Airpark with my previous bird (a 1976 112TC). Nice place. Don’t try to make financial sense out of it. We are all only temporary caretakers. Good luck on whatever your decision.
Looks to me he had a bit of a crosswind from the left which would have pushed him right requiring left rudder and/or braking. It also looks like a single skid mark from the left gear either locked up or is being aggressively applied. Once in the soft gravel/sand my guess is the nose collapsed...
I know you don’t suspect it, but next time you get a delay (in vfr of course) reach over and give that 5 amp breaker a tap. I’ve had it happen to me. The breaker doesn’t pop, it just doesn’t make good connection. It was the flush type, not pull able.
Craig
James,
My dear friend. I would gladly trade all the Commander parts in the world to have you still here with us. I'm sorry I didn't see this message before your passing. RIP and always severe clear for you from now on.
