    New Gear Pumps

The brushes and bearings for the motor are readily available so no problem with that part of the rebuild. I have one of those rebuild kits on my parts shelf, in fact. For those of you that remember the Kelly fiasco from about 10 years ago, it does tend to underscore that the life of these units...

Safety - SOP - Maneuvering speeds

Both that AV-30 and the smaller AV-20 are both neat looking products. Jeff Bethel, the founder of AeroVonics (the company that uAvionix acquired to get these products) was co-founder of Aspen so I'm not too surprised at the functionality and utility. I'm also intrigued by the AV-20S - quite a...

Safety - SOP - Maneuvering speeds

That's my understanding Mike. With the E5 you get a DG but a software upgrade will make it into a Max. However the way they implement the CDI in the instrument is very interesting - some videos on the Aspen site showing the operation. I'm replacing a very tired vac ADI & DG, so this option was...

Safety - SOP - Maneuvering speeds

Mike - thought about just doing the Aspen Evolution E5? $6K gets you the Aspen with ACU for your autopilot. Pretty short change - and if you feel flush later on you can do a software upgrade to the Pro or Max.

T82 fly-in minute by minute updates

Saturday recap! Everyone had a nice leisurely morning with breakfast and some ramp time. Electroair and Garmin were available through lunchtime for one-on-one technical discussions. Unlike the mobs at Sun & Fun or Oshkosh, it's really nice to have 20-30 minutes of uninterrupted time to talk in...

T82 fly-in minute by minute updates

Friday recap! Weather continues to be perfect here in Frederickburg. For the afternoon we had great seminars. First up was Darrell Pool from Smooth Power/Electroair who went over their electronic ignition systems in detail. While systems for our IO360s and 114Bs/TC/115s with independent mags...

T82 fly-in minute by minute updates

Last night we had our COG movie night. Flyboys, popcorn, and ample adult beverages were enjoyed by all! Today we have Electroaire, Garmin, Jim Richards from Aerodyme, and Carl Lee from RCM Normalizing - plus lots of ramp time, of course. And this evening is the COG reception banquet and dance...

    Need a mentor

No issues in the 112 for useful load for 2 adults & full fuel. And with a TAS at 130-135 kts at 11 gph, it's pretty economical, too. LOP around 8gph with about a 5-7 knot loss. About 20 years ago Aviation Consumer did a pretty negative review of the Commander - basically their opinion was that...

    2019 Fly-in Registration is Live!

Friendly reminder! We're only about 3 weeks out from the fly-in so if you're attending but haven't yet completed your official COG registration, head on over the registration page now. And we have heard about a couple of people that due to personal reasons had to cancel reservations at the...
