    2022 Fly-In?

Anything on the 2022 Fly-In. Being a transplant recipient, prudence dictated I skip the past two, due to COVID, but I am optimistic that better times will soon be here. Omicron seems to have peaked. Anyway, I am already booking things in September and I'd like to get to the even this year...

    New user- Chicago suburbs

I had originally planned to fly to Chicago this AM and would have been happy to take you up and let you fly her, but plans had to change. What is your home airport?

    Do I fit?

I am 6'4" and used to weight 230 and never have had an issue. (Happy to say I am now down to 185, adding 45# to useful load and at least ... uhhhhh ... 5 knots?) My oldest son, a pilot is 6'5" and a very lean 190, but his height is no issue.

    Looking for Canadian Commander Owners

So close to you, based at Detroit Willow RUN (KYIP) yet so far. I went to Canada last week on business. I drove to Guelph. Of course, I have both vaccines and the booster and had the high-level test done to get over the border. The next weekend I was coughing, very tired, achy ... then this past...

    O .. M .. G ...

Watch THIS! https://www.air.tv/watch?v=jBh4k1xGQfq2SqeQdQGsXA Probably a lot of jump suits to clean on landing, not to mention the pilot's shorts and anyone else who was left on the plane.

    G’day from Queensland, Australia!

Welcome Mark-mate! First, I love the Packers shirt. Pay no attention to the riff-raff here. Great to see Peter Sweeney's 114 find a good home. I almost flew up to an Aussie Commander Fly-in at Chinchilla in Queensland with him in 2013, but could not quite work out the schedule. I was there on...

    2021 Fly-In

I have not seen the detailed schedule layout for the Fly-In. Is it posted here somewhere? If not, can you post it?

    48 States in 48 Hours

They did not make it, but I have considered doing similar, but not in 48 hours, to raise money for Wings of Mercy. I know that plane. When they purchased it a few years back, Their chief instructor contacted me and wanted to fly with me a couple of hours and get my input on preferred speeds...

The Last Fighter Pilot of WWII

Here is an interview with Jerry Yellin, one year prior to his death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxYujOEikX0

The Last Fighter Pilot of WWII

My Father flew with Jerry Yellin, P-51's off Saipan then Iwo Jima, with the 78th Fighter Group. My Dad passed in 1976, but I had the honor of becoming friends with Jerry and his wife, Dorrie. I visited with them many times, even stayed at their home in Florida, and took Jerry up in the...

    Chance Commander encounter

If you get in a slow cruise, level, open the side windows, it is no problem to close and lock the door in flight. In 20 years and 4,000 hours in 43W I (or a passenger) have probably done it 10 times.

Darwin must have had the week off ... you will not believe this one

Of all the idiotic pilot adventures I have ever heard, this one takes the cake. The guy's home airport is only 15 miles from mine in Northern Michigan. Grateful he will not be flying anywhere near us, but as I said in the title, Darwin evidently was on vacation during his trip from CA to MI...

Hi - new member soon to be new owner

Mick, where are you located in OZ? I flew with two Commander owners there a few years back. Remarkable country!

    Oshkosh 2021

Still not sure if I will make it this year, but glad for the new NOTAM. The number of yahoos who blow the NOTAM each trip in just boggles the mind. I would hate to have to fly that by myself on a busy day. Have done it more than 20 times and have always had my oldest son with me, also a pilot.

Not every day you see this ....

And today ... we were loading up the pontoon again for a big excursion with 10 adults and five little ones and heard a tremendous roar coming up the lake, North to South, and from behind the ridge comes an A-10!!!. Could not have been more than 300 or 400 off the water at the most. About 15...

Not every day you see this ....

(this is not a political post, just reporting an event, so remember that if you comment.) Pretty exciting day at our local small northern Michigan airstrip, KACB Antrim County - Bellaire. President Biden dropped by. I was parked on the ramp but of course, could not get anywhere near the airport...

    DC Advice

Thanks to all for the input. Found out it takes 3-4 weeks for processing after you get your login, then your fingerprints! Not enough time for this trip. Good points about Uber and Metro combined ... I did that from GAI about 5 years ago, took a long time, hoping for something better. Will check...

    DC Advice

I have a dinner and next day meeting in DC, downtown, in a couple of weeks. I could just go commercial into National but if I fly myself I have other stops I can make. Have flown into Leesburg, once into Dulles, into Montgomery County, Tipton, Freeway, but never to the two closer in ones to the...
