Female controller acknowledges and asks me to report right downwind. Clarified that I am now late right downwind and had just...

    The World's 18 Strangest Airports

Re: The World's 18 Strangest Airports it"s pure envy Sid ! you may as well flaunt it while you've got it I've been into Gibralter and it's interesting to say the least. Sitting in the back you are convinced that you are just about to ditch in the water as it gets so close. Then suddenly a...

    Iceland Fly In

Re: Iceland Fly In Hi Lawrence, Last week of July sounds perfect. BIRD is the reporting point on the FIR boundary at N 61when you leave the Scottish FIR to enter the Reykjavik FIR. Definitely go with the Goretex as it wicks away the sweat! Otherwise we won't come (too) near you afterwards !

    Iceland Fly In

Re: Iceland Fly In When to fly the route? When the weather allows! I did a two hour trip to Cranfield yesterday afternoon and picked up about half an inch of ice along the leading edges that shaved about twenty knots off the IAS. Did not really want to know about the stuff I couldn't see on the...

    2 Commanders at Le Touquet

Re: 2 Commanders at Le Touquet Good idea Lawrence. I'm keen although we were planning for May but I think the summer's is good. The Iceland AIP is bilingual and has a variety of approaches including GPS type. There's a handful of large fields for arrival and departure but many smaller ones...

    Commander Vs Airliner

Re: Commander Vs Airliner Thought you'd appreciate my experience at airport security. I landed at Sumburgh in the Shetland Islands for fuel. We parked the Commander right outside the security area and the staff shepherded us in to do the paperwork. I had my backpack with docs and toiletries...
