Nothing locked down but looking somewhat promising this year. For someone who has never been - and don't intend to fly in to the fly - in, what are decent choices for Satellite airports, avoid renting a car and Uber in / out to from nearby hotel (within 30 mins )

    Vacation and gear issues

The mains are pure gravity. They’re so heavy they always just lock. The nose gear coming down is fighting drag (airspeed) as well as prop wash and has to overcome that collective force to lock. It will come down but won’t lock if the drag force exceeds gravity and spring assist. Removing the...

    Vacation and gear issues

I read the thread. This is what i have to say (from someone who's had to use E-Dump in anger at least 4 times). - Pull the THROTTLE back before pulling e-dump valve. Even though book says 75 KIAS for e-Dump - its the prop wash (as Joel said). You can do it around 100 KIAS so long as you pull...

hi. 1) Where in NE Ohio - which airport specifically ? 2) The Commander Fly-in is this weekend (Fri, Sat) at Dayton - KMGY. There will be all different types there : 112 , 112A , 112B, 112TC, 114, 114A, 114B, 115, 115TC. No better place to check them out and bum a ride ..

    Commander CFIs

See my logbook entry with the CFI for checkout - 8.25.2000. 7 Take-offs and landings - using 36" MAP. using up runway. Look at the single logbook entry the following day 8.26.2000- which restored my faith in the airplane. All i needed was 1 take-off using 40-42 inches of MAP to know how the...

    Commander CFIs

2000 : I used a local CFI in Missouri for the legal checkout. He didn't know much. He would only allow me to go to 36 inches of manifold pressure. That's it. Said the rest was emergency power only. We were at a 400 foot field elevation. I did think - What a %$^ (airplane). It flew in the face of...

    Didn't know this existed

Yeah - not yet. For now its a set-up journey and no skipping the line. For me, unfortunately its not a business expense and i generally don't like partnerships.

    Didn't know this existed

if it weren't a bigger orphan than our airplane - it would a consideration ( a few dozen built). At least the Commander 500-600 series were produced in numbers .. My consideration for a twin is a B58 Baron. My consideration sequence still remains AC11-----> Piper Mirage / Matrix ------> B58...

    New owner in Maryland

Thx Adam .. i'll catch up on latest regs RE: Complex. The HP requirement of > 200 HP is still there however- which is what i run into w/ CFIs. i.e. they can sidestep complex w/ what you posted but not Hi-performance.

    New owner in Maryland

yes i meant to say Multi/Complex .. not multi-commercial. If thats what you're pointing out. No - most new CFIs and CFIIs don't have these ratings. Almost all schools in the northeast - have tons of instructors and almost none w/ Complex/Hi-perf or multi.
